Author's Note:

Welcome back! So sorry for the long wait. I work a retail job that has already been hit so hard by people getting ready for Christmas. Yes, Christmas. I've been working a lot of overtime and as a result haven't gotten to work on this as much as I would hope. I hope another 10.5k word chapter helps make up for it. Maybe double length chapters will happen more than I thought. It will depend on how it goes while I'm writing it.

Thank you all for all the support. I have so much planned for this story and I can't wait to keep writing <3

And again

*Trigger Warning*
This one is no where near as graphic as the last one, but there is mention of substance/alcohol abuse, a brief mention of domestic violence, and chronic illness. As always all the respect if you need to skip.

7. Rest (Double Chapter)
———————————————————————

On Saturday morning Quinn had woken up way before any alarm she set, and absolutely exhausted from the night before. She very quietly got up went to the bathroom trying desperately not to disturb anyone. On the way back she put an ear up close to Nika's door just to see if she could still hear her snoring, and sure enough she could. So Quinn went out to the living room and packed up all of her tools that were still sitting out from 2 nights prior. She folded the towel they had been on and had moved on to the blankets when Paige came out.

Without asking Paige made Quinn coffee when she made it for herself and Azzi. They sat at the dining table talking in low voices for a little before Azzi came trudging out to join them, still wrapped in a blanket. Quinn couldn't help but smile when Azzi sat down and without a word and Paige slid her the coffee she made her. They talked for a little while longer just about the rest of the night before. Unfortunately it came time for Quinn to head out and Nika was still fast asleep. Paige and Azzi assured her they would still talk to her and keep Quinn posted.

Quinn went back to her apartment to change before heading off to work. It was going to be a weekend filled with apartment renovations so Quinn knew she probably wouldn't get the chance to see the basketball girls again until the following week. Though like promised Paige sent Quinn a text around 2pm letting her know they had talked to Nika and she was all good. Nika hadn't remembered much at all after getting to the soccer girl's apartment. She said they took some shots and played rage cage, but she didn't think it would hit her as hard as it did. It made Quinn question if something else had been at play as well. Paige also said that they made sure to not focus on the fact that Quinn had had to step in, or how she handled Dominic as a result, but mainly just made sure Nika was okay. Aside from the hangover, Nika said she felt just fine.

Since everything was talked about, and Nika was okay, Quinn let herself take the time to handle how the whole ordeal had made her feel. Never did she want to be a violent person, it was something she avoided at all costs, but in this particular circumstance it felt more than warranted. Still she took Saturday through Tuesday to decompress and process before her Capstone class with Paige and Nika Wednesday morning. Quinn grabbed coffee on the way in, but Mel wasn't there and they accidentally made it hot instead of iced, but she had no intention of pointing that out. Instead she took her hot coffee and walked to class, waiting for it to cool down enough to even be able to drink it.

Quinn made her way into class and sat down at her seat. She sat scrolling on her phone for a minute or two before Paige and Nika came in, but Nika looked rough. She looked a little pale and just overall tired. Her hair was up in a messy bun and she had on baggy sweats and an oversized hoodie. Immediately Quinn perked up in concern.
