Shriya's POV: (21 years old)
So I finally made my decision to go to the U.S., but this guy is seriously getting on my nerves. He never shows any real interest, even in our chats. Like, come on, I'm the one making an effort here—does he really have to act like that? The longest conversation we ever had was around 15 minutes, and it's frustrating. Only three people know about my crush: my friend Pradeep, my cousin Bhavesh, and my cousin Sam.
Pradeep has been my well-wisher throughout my whole B.Tech. life; he never judges me and is always encouraging, so he knows. Bhavesh isn't the overprotective type of cousin and is actually pretty chill about the whole thing. Sam, though, is four years younger than me and is like my best friend—we can't help but share everything. Out of all of them, Sam is the only one who doesn't like him; she thinks he's got an attitude and even convinced me to unfollow him once. She keeps telling me I deserve better. But do we always listen to others? Of course not!
I kept wishing him on festivals, but there was never anything more than that. He never messaged me first, which got on my nerves sometimes, but I was the one who wanted this, so I kept trying. Meanwhile, I started preparing for my master's exams, the GRE and IELTS.
By June 2019, I cleared the GRE, and by November, I'd cleared the IELTS too. I'm not the kind of girl who studies all the time, but I do balance things out. At this point, I was in my first semester of fourth year and set to complete my B.Tech. by May 2020, with plans to leave for the U.S. in August. I applied to several universities in New Jersey, and I got accepted to three! I chose one, completed all the formalities, and finally had my visa interview. By then, everyone, including Shalini Aunty, knew I was leaving for the U.S. I was expecting a congratulatory message from him, but instead, I got one from his younger brother. Don't get me wrong—I like talking to his younger brother; he's sweet and caring. But I wanted that message from him.
Then, I found out they were coming to India in August 2020. I was scheduled to leave on August 25th, and they were going to visit before my flight.
Two months later...
The day finally arrived; he was coming to my house, and my nerves were at an all-time high. No one else was home; I'd have to open the door by myself—oh my God, I thought I was going to die! When they arrived, I greeted everyone except him—why should I? He never even messaged me, so I was upset. I talked to Aunty, but he kept interrupting, asking questions whenever I tried to speak with her. I was genuinely confused—why was he suddenly so talkative? I brushed it off, though.
Later, my parents arrived, and we all went out for lunch. This time, instead of sitting across from me like usual, he sat beside me, even asking his brother to sit on his other side. I couldn't believe it—was this real?
We had lunch, and I still didn't talk to him, only to his brother. When it was time for them to leave, he gave me a look I couldn't quite understand. And just like that, it ended."
Abhishek's POV(21 yrs old):
After two years, we finally came to India. Today, we were heading to Shriya's house, and I found out that she's planning to come to the U.S.—to our area, no less! I was surprised, but happy for her. I hadn't congratulated her yet because I wanted to do it in person. I knew we'd be visiting her house once we were here.When we arrived, I said hi to her, but she didn't respond. I figured she might not have seen me, so I brushed it off. But as the visit continued, she didn't look my way even once. I was frustrated, so I kept interrupting, asking her questions while she was talking to my mom.
Later, when we were going out for lunch, I thought sitting next to her would give us a chance to talk. But even then, she stayed on her phone, laughing, without sparing a glance in my direction. "Maybe she's upset with me," I thought.
The day didn't go as I'd hoped. I was disappointed that she didn't give me a chance to talk and barely acknowledged me. When we left, I gave her a disappointed look and walked away.
Shriya's POV: (the same night)
I wondered why he gave me that look, but then I shook my head, thinking I was probably overthinking. Why would he even look at me when he has so many beautiful girls around him in the U.S.?
I found myself scrolling through his Instagram since it was public, so I could view his posts. In almost every picture, there was a girl with him, and I felt insecure. She was gorgeous—her figure, her face, everything was perfect. To top it off, my aunt likes her too, just because she dances well. Seriously, I dance well too! Feeling frustrated, I tossed my phone aside and went to sleep.
Imma a little busy tomorrow so I'm posting it today itself, enjoy!!!
