"Thank you!" I smiled, bowing as I left, another shrine. Taking out my phone and crossing it off the list.
Utahime was only able to help me narrow down my search to shrines and families that have had or may have had similar abilities to mine in the past, but so far no luck.
"Right on time." I smiled, answering the call.
"Good morning ~" I heard his stupid (rough) morning voice come through my phone.
"Morning." I replied as I made my way to the next location.
"Any luck?" He asked me after yawning.
"Nothing, how are you and your boyfriend?" I teased.
"Fine fine." He replied, used to me referring to Geto as his boyfriend. "Both of us are on protection detail, but its more like babysitting, can you believe it?" He complained.
"Be nice to the kid. How are the new first years, Nanami and Haibara, right?" I asked.
"I don't know, fine. Fun to mess with." he replied laughing. I could hear the sound of rustling, so I assumed he was getting dressed.
"Don't give Geto too much trouble, okay?" I asked, knowing Geto is most definitely the one cleaning up whatever mess Gojo was making.
"Yeah yeah. Also, because of the protection detail, I won't be able to call for a while..." He paused.
"I see.." I tapped a finger against my phone, knowing he wants me to say something, but I didn't know what. "Well, I uhm.. have to get on the train." I internally kicked myself at what I said.
I heard him laugh before saying bye and hanging up. Getting a seat by the doors, I checked my phone to see a text from Gojo. It was a heart and the words "I miss you, love you." I smiled seeing the text, and replied simply with "Me too." and turned off my phone.
~~~
"Still nothing." I sat on the park bench, staring at the skies and the clouds. Its been almost a month since I last heard from Gojo, and Geto wasn't answering my calls or texts. I asked Shoko, and she told me briefly about what happened.
Checking my phone, "Screw it." I sent a text to Utahime, letting her know I was going to be gone for a few days. Going to the train station, I bought a ticket to Tokyo.
I stared out the window of the bullet train, staring at my phone. I thought giving the two of them time might have helped, but they haven't answered a single call, and would read but not respond to my texts.
Finally arriving in Tokyo, I went to the school. Running up the stairs, I noticed there was damage to the floor, of the gates. It was almost fixed, but it was a rather large hole. Walking around it, I looked around, hoping to find someone.
"Hey!" I paused hearing a voice I didn't recognize. He was wearing the school uniform and had short brown hair, behind him was a blonde.
"Hey, I'm looking for either Sa-.. Gojo-san and Geto-san?" I asked, him.
"Ah! I'm not sure about Gojo-senpai, but Geto-senpai was in the dorms earlier." he smiled at me.
"Thank you!" I quickly ran in the direction of the boys dorm.
Finally reaching the dorm, I was out of breath but climbed the stairs and opened the doors. Looking down both hallways, they were empty. "Second years.. should be this way." I mumbled, walking down the right hallway.
Hearing the sound of a vending machine around the corner, I saw it was Geto. "Thank god." I sighed, walking over to him. He seemed to be lost in thought as he didn't even hear me approaching him. I reached out, touching his arm. He turned to me in surprise but then sighed in relief.
"What are you doing here?" he asked, smiling and hugging me.
"Someone wasn't answering my texts and ignoring my calls." I punched his arm and hugging him back. "Are you okay?" I asked, seeing he wasn't as.. put together as I remember.
"I'm fine." he smiled. I looked up at him, knowing he was hiding something.
"Oh, here." I reached into my bag and pulled out a far of sugar stars, konpeito.
"What's this for?" He asked as we sat down on a bench outside.
"Well, I remember that before you never seemed to like eating curses, which is understandable since well, it's curses.." I fiddled with my hands. "Satoru always mentioned you'd go with him to get sweets, so I thought, maybe you like sweets?" I pointed to the jars. "It's easy to carry around, and they don't melt in the heat. The store keeper was very excited in talking about the history of it while selling it to me. How it was originally Portuguese and a favorite of feudal lords and Nobunaga himself." I glanced at Geto who just continued staring at the jar before smiling at me.
"Thanks." he opened the jar, eating one. "It's good. Did you finish everything in Kyoto?" he asked me.
"No, almost." I showed him my checklist. "Just two left." I said, as he scrolled to the very bottom.
"Ashiya Doman, and Abe no Seimei." he read the two and I nodded.
"If its not one of those two, then I have no leads. Back to square one." I leaned against Geto, hiding from the sun that was shining on our backs.
"Did you visit Satoru yet?" he asked, moving his arm over me to block the sun.
"No idea where he is. I asked two students, I think it was the first years Haibara and Nanami? They told me I could find you here." I yawned.
"Didn't sleep on the train?" he asked me.
"Couldn't risk missing my stop." I mumbled and heard him laugh.
"True, once you fall asleep not even an earthquake would wake you up." he said as he pulled out his own phone.
"Not funny." I lightly jabbed him with my fist.
"I texted Satoru, he's on his way." he told me.
"He answered you but not me, typical." I joked which Geto also laughed at. Glancing up at him, he seemed to feel a little better. "If you want more sweets, I can always buy you more." I smiled at him. "It's Satoru's money anyway, no price limit." I assured Geto.
"I've been downgraded to a wallet now?" We looked behind us to see Gojo.
"Hey." I sat up, reaching a hand out to him. He reached out to my hand, walking closer and stopping behind me, blocking the sun. He placed his arms loosely around my neck, his chin on my head and his hands holding mine as they rest on my lap.
"I'll let you both talk. Thanks for the candy." Geto smiled at me before getting up and walking away. Gojo climbed over the back of the bench, sitting where Geto was and hugged me.
I hugged him back, but watched as Geto walked away, still worried about him. "Where's my gift?" he asked me, turning my attention back to him.
"Didn't get you one." I replied, making him pout and pull me onto his lap.
I ran my fingers through his hair, down his face and across his cheek. "Shoko mentioned you were injured. Where did you get hurt?" I asked as my hands drifted towards his arm.
"I'm fine, 100%. Nothing I couldn't handle." he smiled up at me. "Promise." He guided my hand from my arm back up to his face, nuzzling it like a puppy.
"Liar... Both of you are... idiots. My idiots." I thought pulling him into a hug.
