three.

It had been days since homecoming ended.

Summer, unsurprisingly, won Homecoming queen whilst Ethan had won king. Amber was a little upset but once she saw how beautiful Summer looked on stage she knew that everyone had made the right decision.

Summer has always been meant for the center of attention, the spotlight. She was built for it.

    Amber was just simply there.

She can't really say she does or doesn't do well with attention when she's never really been given it. Sure she's the captain of the cheer team but when you're all wearing the same outfit and cheering the same thing, no one's paying attention to just one person.

And she thinks that's why she likes Quinn so much, he gives her this special attention like she's the only one in the room to him.

At Least that's how she feels, she's not entirely sure how he really feels.

Amber had been keeping herself busy this past week, with homecoming ending it meant she needed to focus on studies for the year. And it's not like Quinn actively searched for her either.

He wasn't around every corner like she had hoped.

She wouldn't say that the date went bad at all, in fact it was just.

   Normal.

Nothing happened, Amber tries to remind herself that he's just not that kind of guy.

He's not going to kiss her just because they went on one silly homecoming date together. Not that she was expecting a kiss towards the end but even something to spark that little hope that he somewhat reciprocates her feelings would've been nice.

And it wasn't even a date, technically. They just happened to both be each other's dates at a dance where they sat and watched couples.

It was actually kind of depressing now that Amber thinks about it.

"Are you still thinking about him?" Amber's eyes flicker to Summers slump body, her head pressed to the cold metallic desk as she pouts her glossed lips. Amber can't help but softly smile.

"It's hard not to. I've tried distracting myself with school but-"

"But you two share the majority of classes together."

It's true, besides this current one, English, Amber and Quinn share a lot of classes this semester. It irks Amber. Why does she have to excel in all her classes? Why can't she just be failing her classes like all her friends so she can just forget his stupid cute face and not have to see him for 6 hours a day.

Amber lets out a long sigh from her nose as she turns her head to look out the window beside her, taking notice of the leafless trees decorating the school parking lot. "Hey, he'll come around."

Amber feels Summers hand squeeze her own causing her to look over, a smile gracing both of their faces. "It's alright, Sums. Thank you."

Amber brings her coat closer to her body, her breathing visible through her nose as she listens to the sound of her sneakers hit the wet concrete sidewalk leading away from the school. It has been a couple months since Amber had last spoken to Quinn- okay that's a total lie.

The two have had on and off conversations here and there but nothing out of the norm. Amber always tries her best to grasp anything from their interactions but it's either he's too busy or she's pulled away from her friends for something related to cheer or hangouts.
