"Why do we have to move again?" I ask as I pack one of my final boxes. "Because I said so, also since I've always wanted to leave this dam place." She whispered the last part to herself. I finish putting tape in my last box and as I load it into the car I look back. I've been here my whole life, now I have to go, I hope I can count on you guys to watch over me.
I get into the car and wait for Clair, as she gets in she pulls out a cigarette and lights it. She glances over at me and sees my face, "What, you got a problem? I could've let you walk there so thank me I'm not making you." She says. Since the death of my parents things have not gotten easier. My foster mother, Clair, who was short on money, found out about fostering kids and how they give you money to take care of the kid. Instead of her buying me things I've had to buy my own food and clothing with the saved up allowance money I have. Only reason I'm not reporting her is cause she monitors my phone and I don't feel like being in an orphanage. That's probably the last thing I need especially since this kid from school would casually taunt me even the day my pet died. Man that guys a psycho, wonder what's going on in his life. Some time later
I feel like I'm going to pass out. Clair's on her 2nd pack of cigarettes and with her window barely rolled down the car started to get full of smoke. It's been around an hour and we're on the road to my 'lovely new house' As I reach for button to roll my window down Clair glanced over and caught me. "What the hell you think you're doing?" NOT TRYING TO DIE! "The car... it's full of smoke... I can hardly breathe." I say as I cough between the words. "Don't be so dramatic." She says as she smokes another cigarette. I roll the window down and catch a breath of air. It felt as if all the weight on my shoulders were to be lifted by an angel. Only to be dropped back onto my shoulders. As Clair grabs me and throws me back into the-half filled smoke-car she starts yelling at me. "WHO THE FUCK YOU THINK YOU ARE?! THIS IS MY CAR!" She rolls the window back up and locks the windows. Thus began the-somewhat-awkward silence. As she kept smoking, and throwing her cigarette out the small opened window, the car filled up with smoke again. The silence lasted for around 20 minutes until I broke the silence. As I rummaged through my bag Clair looks over confused, "What the hell you doing now?" She questioned-a bit-angrily. As I pull the tool out my bag I reach for the back window and push the tool up against the glass. "Hey wait a-" halfway through her sentence the glass shatters. All the smoke rushed outside. For the first time I saw her shocked and horrified. "BIT-" Halfway through her sentence she grips the steering wheel and swerved out the way of a truck. She pulls over, opens the car door and throws me and my bag out. "Not only are you paying for that but you can also walk the rest of the 500 miles ON FOOT!" Before I can react she speeds away with the door closing due to the strong wind. "Dam I fucked up."
(Another time jump)
As sundown begins to appear I continue walking. She's not really making me walk all the way is she? As thoughts begin to fill my head I start having trouble breathing and my heart begins to skip beats. She's not leaving me here. She has to be up ahead waiting for me. Maybe she drove a bit too far. Maybe I'm just going slow. The thoughts rush all at once in my head until I trip on a rock and slam my face hard on the ground. It wasn't until then that I got ahold of myself. As I get up I feel a warm liquid running down my face. Am I crying? I grab my hand and feel my face only to find blood stained on my hand. I look down and see sharp tiny blades. More specifically, glass. As my eyes widen I look up and see a little trail of broken glass with a car in the distance. I immediately start running towards the car with the blood running down my face. As I approached the glossy dark blue colored car I see Clair with-yet again-a cigarette in her mouth. "Dam brat" she mumbled to herself. She was duck taping the window so nobody would break in. Which not going to lie is kinda dumb since a robber would see duck tape on a window and probably know the window is broken. She catches the attention of me in the corner of her eye and didn't seem to care until she whipped her head towards me. "What the hell happened?!" She asked. Before I can get a word out she rushes to the back of the car and looks for a first aid kit. I walk over to the car door mirror to look at my face only to be shocked and horrified. My body begins to feel weak and as I fall Clair catches me. "I got you." She spoke softly.
(ANOTHER time jump, I don't want this to be too long)
All I hear is silence. Until a soft, quiet, and warm voice spoke "Wake up son... it's time to get up." I get up only to be found in bed in the middle of the night. I search the room for my stuff and Clair. Where the hell even am I? Feeling my face hurting I check with my hand only to feel bandages around my forehead. I find Clair in another bed-somewhat-across the room. I get up and find a window, as I look outside I see the stunning moon shining so bright almost like the sun. I search the area through the window and find a huge MOTEL sign outside. "I'm too tired for this right now." I go back to my bed and find myself in a comfortable position. The last thing I saw was the ceiling of the room before drifting off to sleep.
