"Castor! Wake up!"
The knocking at the door made me jump awake. I sat up slowly and groaned. "Castor? You up?" Leo called through the door.
"Y-yeah, yeah--I'm up," I replied.
"We're gonna be late, c'mon!" he said with a hint of urgency.
I stood up unsteadily and looked around. What had I been doing sleeping on the floor? Why did my head hurt so much? Did I sleepwalk last night? I glanced over at my bed, where Pepper lay, watching me.
Then I remembered what I had saw last night and I spun to the window.
Sunlight lit up the world outside and while there was a couple kids running outside, and some guy walking his dog, there was no faceless tall guy out there.
Of course there wouldn't be.
"Castor?" I heard my mom call from the kitchen.
"Coming!" I yelled. I grabbed my books, threw them into my bag and ran out of my room. Pepper followed close behind.
I found my mother clearing the table after my siblings. Hazel was putting her coat on in the foyer.
"Good morning, Cassie!" She said, beaming at me. Pepper walked over and licked her hands and she giggled.
My mother looked up at me. "There you are," she said. "Leo's taking James to school--can you take Hazel for me? I have another shift in an hour."
"Okay," I nodded. I walked over and quickly kissed her on the cheek before grabbing Hazel's lunchkit off the counter and putting it in her bag. "Ready to go?" I asked Hazel.
"Yep," she nodded. "Come on--I don't want to be late!"
I let out a chuckle as she took my hand and started pulling me outside.
"Bye Mom!" I called behind me.
"Bye Cas--be good. Oh--I'm working late tonight, so you'll have to make supper!" She called after me.
"Okay--bye!" I said before I shut the door.
Hazel and I started walking down the street. I glanced over at the streetlight, shivering. Had that all just been a dream, maybe?
Hazel started talking excitedly about how she was happy to see her friends in kindergarten today. She and I talked the whole walk to her school.
"Okay, you're good?" I asked when we were outside her school.
She nodded and then hugged me. "Bye Cassie," she said.
I hugged her back quickly before she ran into her school.
I had to sprint eight blocks to make it to my school and I almost did a baseball slide into my classroom just as the final bell rang.
I sat next to my friend Adam, who chuckled.
"You cut that really fine, dude," he told me.
"Oh shut up," I smiled. The teacher walked in and class began.

*********

Lunch rolled around and I found myself in line to buy a lunch since I didn't have time to make one this morning.
I bought a sandwich and a bottle of juice before I glanced around the cafeteria. I noticed Leo in one corner of the room, eating by himself and scrolling on his phone again. I went over and sat beside him.
"Hey," he said, glancing over at me.
"Hey. How are you?" I asked.
He shrugged--typical response coming from him.
I nodded as I unwrapped my sandwich and took a bite out of it. "Cool. I'm okay--I got a horrendous essay on this book we're reading in class. 'Lord of the Flies'--ever heard of it?"
He kept his eyes on his phone and ignored me.
"Okay, good talking to you," I muttered. I rolled my eyes in annoyance and then I glanced out at one of the cafeteria windows. I paused in horror.
That faceless man was standing in the sports-field and he was looking at me.
