In the sense of Charlotte Rose Johnston, who was raised by her father in rural, wooded Michigan after her mother passed away, she believed that.
From a young age she was convinced that life had dealt her the short end of the stick.
At the age of fourteen, she was banned from international women's hockey after landing an outlawed hit in an international women's match. To put it simply, she switched gears and played by her own rules.
Facing college was her next step, and through the support of her there childhood best friends, Quinn, Jack, and Luke, she became good enough to earn a spot on the USA National Development Program Team.
This roster spot was where she was scouted for the University of Michigan, and she obviously committed to their men's program immediately.
Her father was proud, but the Hughes family seemed to halt their support for the woman due to an alleged falling out.
Now with tensions rising between the two hockey superstar families, both Charlotte Johnston and Luke Hughes are beginning their freshman semester's together- on the same defensive line.
