"No, you don't get it! I know we're teammates but isn't there like a university law against this?" Charlotte complained to the front desk of her dormitory hall.

The elderly woman had a thick Eastern European accent with foggy round glasses and pin straight blonde hair. She shrugged her broad shoulders.

"Honey, this was cleared with the university because you're technically teammates. Being that you're playing men's hockey and judging that your families have been friends for a long time, it's all we can do until the other dorm building is repaired. The burst pipe really messed the housing up so it's either this," she paused, Charlotte rubbed her forehead anxiously, "-it's either this or the building without reliable air conditioning,"

"Okay. When is that other building going to be repaired and all good?" Charlotte questioned, weighing her options out thoroughly.

The woman shrugged for a brief moment and tapped her long nails against her keyboard for a few moments, raising the tension in the shoulders of the ginger girl.

"The university says the repairs should be done by the third semester this year. You're in luck!"

Charlotte grit her teeth into a pained smile and nodded a quick thank you.

She scooped the keys to her now shared room back into her shaking hands and tore off towards their room, fuming.

If only he had chosen a different school. He surely had other offers. This was Charlotte's only chance to play men's hockey. Only one team was willing to give her a chance, and sure it was only because of her last name. The Hughes'. The Johnston's. Hockey's royal family.

Sure he had other offers. He had been talking about it for years over weekly dinners. His cocky irritating voice. His bragging.

He chose the University of Michigan team on purpose. Charlotte believed it was to try and one up her success, and now she had to room with him. How evil the world had been to her. How evil.

Choosing the University of Michigan was the easiest decision of his life. His older brother and inspiration, Quinn, had studied there for a few years and always spoke so highly of their defensive coach. Luke, wanting to be just like him, of course committed immediately after one phone call.
