After that incident I tried to approach Chris but he avoided me our time in New York, so I thought to give him some space and let him process the secret but I was a little still confused that whether my secrets are safe with him or not .
After 3 days later we returned from New York as I returned home I quickly ran towards the Avaloria Lake transformed into my mermaid form and went towards the kingdom to meet my grandmother .
As I swam through the familiar waters of Avaloria Lake, I felt a mix of emotions swirling inside me. The encounter with Chris in New York still lingered in my mind, leaving me uncertain about his intentions and the safety of my secrets.
Upon reaching the kingdom, I was greeted by the warm smile of my grandmother, Queen Clarissa. Her wise eyes sparkled with concern as she enveloped me in a gentle hug.
"Layla, child, what troubles you?" she asked, her voice soothing as the gentle lapping of the waves against the shore.
I took a deep breath, letting the weight of my concerns spill out. "Grandmother, I told Chris my secret. He saw me in my mermaid form, but instead of understanding, he was shocked and hurt. I don't know if I can trust him with our secrets."
Queen Clarissa's expression turned thoughtful, her eyes clouding with a hint of worry. "Layla, trust is a delicate thing. It's not something that can be forced or rushed. Perhaps Chris needs time to process and understand the magnitude of our world."
I nodded, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. My grandmother's words were always laced with wisdom and guidance.
"But, Grandmother, what if he betrays our trust? What if he reveals our secrets to the world?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Queen Clarissa's expression turned stern, her eyes flashing with a hint of warning. "Layla, we must be cautious, but we cannot let fear dictate our actions. We will keep a close eye on Chris, and if necessary, we will take measures to protect our secrets."
I felt a sense of reassurance wash over me, knowing that my grandmother and our kingdom's guards would do everything in their power to keep our secrets safe.
Then suddenly I remembered what I found out in New York and also that I'm her true granddaughter.
As I shared the news with my grandmother, Queen Clarissa's expression transformed from curiosity to shock. "Your parents confirmed that you're my true granddaughter?" she asked, her voice trembling with emotion.I nodded, and Queen Clarissa's eyes welled up with tears. "Oh, Layla, this is a miracle. I had lost all hope of ever finding my family's legacy."
I smiled, happy to see my grandmother's joy. "And there's more," I said, taking a deep breath. "I met Captain Orion, a friend of my father's. He gave me a box that my father had left for you."
Queen Clarissa's eyes widened as I handed her the box. She opened it, and a look of wonder crossed her face as she revealed the contents.
Inside, she found a stack of old letters, tied with a faded ribbon. She gently untied the ribbon and began to read the letters, her eyes scanning the pages with a mix of sadness and nostalgia.
Next to the letters lay a small, intricately carved compass. Queen Clarissa picked it up, running her fingers over the delicate etchings. "This was the compass I gave to your mother," she whispered with a shed of tear in her eyes as she remembered my mother.
A silver dagger lay beside the compass, its blade glinting in the soft light of the kingdom. Queen Clarissa's eyes clouded as she picked up the dagger. "This was used in the battle against the dark forces," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
The dry sea-holly plant caught her attention next. She smiled, remembering that she used to tell my mother about the magical properties of the plant.
Finally, Queen Clarissa opened the weathered leather journal, her eyes scanning the pages filled with Charles's handwriting. She ran her fingers over the embossed initials on the cover, a look of deep longing on her face.
As she delved deeper into the journal, Queen Clarissa's expression changed from nostalgia to concern. She looked up at me, her eyes serious. "Layla, it seems that your father left us with many answers. The battle is stirring, our kingdom and our life are now in your hands Layla we need to start preparing you for this from tomorrow onwards I'll arrange a trainer for you so that they could train you how to fight and how to use your magical powers."
I felt a shiver run down my spine as Queen Clarissa's words hung in the air, foreshadowing a great challenge ahead.
I nodded, determination rising within me. "I'm ready, Grandmother. I'll do everything in my power to protect our kingdom and our way of life."Queen Clarissa's eyes shone with pride. "I know you will, Layla. You have the heart of a true warrior. Tomorrow, your training will begin. Your trainer will be none other than Kai, the best warrior in our kingdom."
I felt a surge of excitement at the mention of Kai's name. I had always admired his strength and bravery, and I knew that I could learn a lot from him.
As the sun began to set, Queen Clarissa dismissed me, telling me to get a good night's rest before my training began. I swam back to the surface, my mind racing with thoughts of the challenges ahead.
As I emerged from the water,Here is the rewritten text:
As I emerged from the water, I made my way towards my home, but as I walked through the dark forest, I felt a sense of unease. The trees seemed to loom over me, casting long, ominous shadows on the ground. I quickened my pace, my heart beating slightly faster with every step.
Suddenly, I felt like I was being followed. I spun around, but there was no one there. The only sound was the rustling of leaves and the distant hooting of an owl. I took a deep breath and continued walking, telling myself I was just being paranoid.
But the feeling persisted. I could sense eyes upon me, boring into my skin. I picked up my pace, my senses on high alert. And then, just as I was starting to think I had imagined the whole thing, I felt a blow to the head.
And everything went black.
When I came to, I found myself in a dark room, tied to a chair. I struggled to adjust my eyes to the dim light, and that's when I saw him - an old man, also tied to a chair, looking weak and frail. His long, black hair was messy and unkempt, and his beard reached down to his chest, tangled and wild. He looked like he hadn't eaten or slept in weeks.
I didn't know who he was, but from the circumstances, I assumed he had been kidnapped too, just like me. He looked up at me, his eyes sunken and his gaze weak. I tried to speak, but my voice was hoarse from the blow to the head.
The old man's eyes locked onto mine, and I saw a flicker of recognition. He tried to speak, but his voice was barely a whisper. I leaned forward, trying to hear what he was saying.
Suddenly, the door creaked open, and a figure loomed in the shadows. I strained my eyes to see who it was, but the dim light made it impossible.
