[3rd PoV] (Day 7)
Inside the Uzumaki household, tensions simmered, weighing heavily on Hinata Uzumaki, the family’s matriarch.
She sat at the dining table, one hand resting on the surface as her mind wandered back to when it all started—just six days ago…
(Flashback no Jutsu)
Early that morning, Hinata had been cleaning the house, preparing to wake her son, Boruto. She understood he trained hard and often pushed himself to exhaustion, just like his father. But it was term break from the Academy, and she felt it was important for him to develop good routines and habits, especially with graduation only a few months away.
Her mind drifted briefly to her own days as a new graduate, amazed at how far life had brought her.
Shaking her head free of nostalgia, she approached Boruto’s room and knocked gently. No response. She knocked again—still nothing.
With a frown, she opened the door to find Boruto sound asleep. Sighing softly, she moved closer to his bed.
“Boruto! Time to wake up!” she said gently but firmly, shaking him just enough to stir him.
Boruto’s eyes slowly fluttered open, though his face held a slight scowl. Hinata couldn’t help but interpret his expression as annoyance toward her.
“Are you trying to avoid responsibility again?” she warned, giving him an ultimatum. “If you do, I’ll confiscate your games and won’t give them back until you shape up!”
Hinata knew Boruto wasn’t incapable of fulfilling his responsibilities. In fact, with her guidance and Naruto’s early bonding before he became Hokage, Boruto had developed quickly, proving himself to be a natural talent. But recently, that same talent had made him complacent—and a bit spoiled.
Although she preferred not to be strict like her father, Hinata knew she had to set boundaries for him.
Unexpectedly, Boruto replied, “Alright,” in a flat, almost mechanical tone, rising from his bed with no complaint or reaction. Instead of groaning or pleading about his games, he simply began to tidy his bed in silence.
Hinata blinked, taken aback. What just happened?
After a moment, she brushed it off, assuming he’d simply woken up on the wrong side of the bed. “Make sure to come downstairs when you’re finished, understood?”
“Yes,” he replied, his face still blank.
She felt a hint of unease but decided to ignore it. “Just don’t keep me and Hima waiting.”
She turned to leave, unaware of the subtle way Boruto’s shoulders stiffened at the mention of his sister’s name, a spark flickering briefly in his gaze as he moved a little faster.
Back downstairs, Hinata assumed her son’s odd behavior was just a temporary mood. But as the days unfolded, she’d soon realize just how wrong she was…
(Flashback no Jutsu ends)
…
Days passed, yet Boruto remained exactly as he’d been that strange morning.
No matter what she did—whether scolding him or urging him to drop his stoic act—he only nodded before walking away, indifferent and detached.
It was a disrespectful behavior that irked her somewhat. But she didn't know what else she could do.
This newfound coldness unsettled Hinata, even stung a little. Scolding had no effect, and threats of taking away his games didn’t faze him. She’d even gone so far as to confiscate them, but Boruto only gave them a brief glance before turning away with a bored look, which made her feel helpless.
