Jeon sat in his grand, dimly-lit study, leafing through documents with a look of distaste carved into his features. The rich leather of his chair creaked slightly as he shifted, his jaw set tight, eyes cold and unwavering. The warm glow of the lamp cast long shadows, emphasizing his hardened expression.
Jin, his brother's partner, entered the room carrying a glass of wine. He placed it on the edge of the desk with a casual smile, watching Jeon's tense figure.
"Tomorrow's the auction," Jin remarked, swirling the drink in his own glass. "Are you planning to go?"
"Of course," Jeon replied without looking up. "I need to find something worthwhile this time. Everything's been the same dull, useless stock. Nothing ever satisfies."
Jin chuckled. "Nothing can satisfy you, Jeon. Maybe you just need to find some love."
"Love?" Jeon's lips twisted into a smirk as he finally raised his gaze, meeting Jin's eyes with an icy stare. "Are you sure you're talking to me? I'm not my brother, who let himself fall for you."
"Why do you think that's such a bad decision?" Jin asked, his tone calm.
Jeon leaned back, exhaling sharply. "It's not bad for him; he's got you. But you... you've had to give up a normal life for this-this darkness."
Jin shrugged, his gaze warm yet unyielding. "It's all for love, Jeon. I just hope one day you'll understand that. And the life I had before Joon is anything but normal. I know you hate when I say this; I have no family other than you guys."
Jeon's face hardened as he brushed Jin's words away. "Make sure everything is ready for tomorrow. The girl we finished the contract with? She should be gone by morning."
"Not even a goodbye?" Jin asked, quirking an eyebrow. "She did a lot for us, you know. She helped us lure in and fool many people."
Jeon's expression didn't falter. "Why would I? She was just a temporary piece on the board, nothing more. I lost interest the moment I bought her."
Jin sighed, a trace of disappointment flashing across his face. "She is there downstairs with others; I can call her, Just bid a bye, Jeon; you may have auctioned her as a possession for 6 months, but she is also a human."
"Do I look like I care, Jin? All those formalities are just a waste of time; I don't feel like bending her down today; otherwise, I would have called her." Jeon said nothing changed in his tone, face, or demeanour.
"Yeah, whatever you say." He placed his glass on the table and turned towards the door, his footsteps echoing softly as he left.
Jeon returned to his documents, eyes narrowing. Tomorrow's auction would bring something new-hopefully, something to finally break the monotony of his world, though he doubted it. The bitter taste of dissatisfaction lingered, but Jeon was accustomed to that.
---------------------------------
The auction center was packed with an array of affluent faces, each buyer there for their own reasons, their dark desires cloaked in elegance. Most were here to acquire their own "personal toy"-someone who could fulfil their fantasies, feed their egos, or simply obey without question.
Jeon stood among them, gaze sharp but detached, watching as various "possessions" were brought out in cages. Some were boys, others girls, each displaying a variety of physiques, features, and expressions.
Their eyes held either defiance or fear, though Jeon barely flinched. Fear-he loved the emotion, but he didn't like to play with it, with those who have fear in their eyes; it was a big turnoff for him, and he sought something more-someone who would meet his gaze without cowering; he loved to hunt, not the one who surrendered and collapsed fast, the one with equal strength and fire.
