Finally, I was spending my last day in Dubai before heading back to Bombay, and I have truly enjoyed my time here. It's one of my memorable holidays as I get time to spend with my friend. I don't have a lot of friends. I have very few pals. One of them is Asad Khan, the CEO of AS labels, a well-known figure in the business world and a mafia don(Italian king). Before his family moved to Dubai, his grandfather and my grandfather (Nana Ji) used to be best friends. Thus, we initially found out about each other through the families. He has been consistently urging me to come to Dubai from the last month, and because I enjoy travelling as well, I gladly said yes to him. Moreover, his family has always treated me like their own daughter, and there was one previous occurrence that led to my unwavering trust in them. I always loved hanging out with him as I never felt uncomfortable and awkward in his presence.

During this trip, our bond grew even stronger; as takes me to many adventurous activities I also ate a lot of local street food which I tried myself while roaming in the streets at night after he dropped me at the hotel because Asad was very concerned about my safety. He even insisted a lot on staying at their home but I immediately turned down his offer as she did not want to become a burden on him and invade his privacy. Still, he made me stay in Burj Khalifa in his apartment.

The night went pretty fast. When I woke up, the first thing I did was check my phone for a call from my Nanu(Grandpa). A pang of disappointment hit me when I saw there were no messages or missed calls. I felt a little bit sad. Before I came here, we had a big fight because they didn't like the idea of me coming to Dubai alone and also he wanted me to join his business, I don't want to as I don't have any interest in the pharmaceutical business, this was another reason why I decided to come here. After checking my phone, I get up and make my way to the bathroom. I did my business and washed my face and teeth. Then I hopped in the shower, and just as I was rinsing off, I heard my phone ringing.

Ring! Ring! Ring!

I immediately picked up the call when I saw the caller's ID because it was my grandpa's(maternal) call. I have a special bond with him, he is indeed a father figure in my life. I had been longing for this call for weeks, especially after our fight. Today was the day I was finally speaking to him after nearly a month.

"Hello, Layina... how are you," he said.

" H..hello", * with tears in my eyes* I mumbled; my stomach was aching from nervousness. Before coming here, the fight we had was the first real fight we ever had regarding me. I had never gone on any trip this long without them. I was feeling guilty about saying some extremely harsh things during a fight that, I didn't have to.

"I am sorry; please pardon me", I sobbed.

"If you truly want my forgiveness, then do one thing", Grandpa responded.

"What" I enquired. Somewhat I know something big is coming.

"Our company got a big business proposal which is very important for our company as the company was on the verge of going bankrupt, I need you to lead that project. The clients are from Dubai, I want you to visit their company and finalise the deal as soon as possible. If you can crack that deal, then you get my forgiveness automatically," he explained before I could say anything, the call was cut by him.

I was shocked, but I stayed where I was, pulling my knees to my chest and sniffing. I wasn't sure how long I stayed like this as different thoughts raced through my mind. I was thinking about what I should do because I love him more than anything in this world, and he never asked me for anything, another reason is, I was unaware of the financial condition of the company.

I already texted him "yes" as I have no other option other than listening to him. Honestly, right now, I also wanted to crack this deal to show my calibre and help him in this difficult situation.

After some time I made my way to my closet and grabbed my outfit that I set out yesterday. I chose something that balanced comfort and style— a White sweatshirt with blue leggings and Nike sneakers. The meeting was scheduled for 3 PM. I came here for vacation, therefore I don't have any formal clothes here as well as time to buy them, so I have to make do with what I have.

After getting ready, I headed downstairs for breakfast in one of the hotel restaurants, after breakfast I sat there and watched the presentation that was sent by our company CEO, while I was analysing and interpreting the information, my phone buzzed with a call from Asad as yesterday he invited me for lunch at 1 pm at his place, which I had completely forgotten. I picked up the call and said, "I am sorry but I can't make it today as I am not feeling well". I didn't want to tell him the real reason. I felt terrible for saying for turning his invitation offer down.

Finally, I arrived at the destination of the client's company. I went inside and received a warm welcome from Mr Abbas (client). After having an in-depth discussion, Against all the odds, however, a deal has been finalised. I texted the grandpa "Deal done" I stated proudly. He also sounded fairly content after receiving this news.

Later that night, Asad picked me up from the hotel and dropped me at the airport as today I am returning to my country. He hugged me firmly and said a final goodbye to me. I am extremely excited to meet my grandparents and my bestie Emaan. During the journey, I slept the entire ride; suddenly I was jolted awake by the flight attendant's voice " Excuse me, please move your seat upright. We are beginning our descent", said the flight attendant. I put my seatbelt on and put my carry on the spot next to me, and the plane goes landing. I hate the landing part. It feels weird.

Once I landed, my driver was already waiting for me outside. I climbed into the car, and the ride to home was nothing, just silent. I texted Emaan to let her know I was back, though she was also angry with me because she also felt what I did was wrong.

Let's see what the future holds for Layina.
