3rd Person
Bakugo takes his punishment surprisingly well, knowing he had it coming and that he deserved it. Mizumi slams the door, retreating back to her room to continue sulking and choosing to skip dinner to avoid the rest of her classmates.
Bakugo sighs and shoves his hands in his pockets as he walks away. Mizumi has made it clear that she's still mad at him and wants nothing to do with anyone at the moment, so he chooses to leave her alone.
Ever since halfway through their 3rd year at UA when they had become the pride and joy of their beloved school, along with Midoriya and Todoroki, Bakugo had become close enough with Mizumi to know her nonverbal cues and when to leave her alone.
He's not the only one of the Big 4 that knows her this well either. She's not very good at hiding her feelings.
When he returns to the rest of his classmates without her, the others question where she is and if she's okay.
"Just leave her alone for now. She's still not in the best mood," Bakugo says, gently rubbing his cheek. It had not hurt much when she had slapped him, but it still had a slight sting to it.
She's lucky that he's going to let her live after pulling a stunt like that.
Despite what he wants other people to think, Bakugo actually does care a lot about his friends, including Mizumi. Kaminari makes an attempt to go upstairs and comfort his girlfriend, but Bakugo stops him.
"Not right now, Sparkplug. Give her some space for now. She'll come out when she's ready."
Kaminari pouts a little, eager to help his girl find her smile again. It breaks his heart to see her unhappy, and he knows Shinso feels just as strongly about her. Kaminari is tempted to fight Bakugo for hurting his favorite girl, but he knows he doesn't stand a chance against his aggressive friend. He decides to wait for Mizumi to feel a little better on her own before trying to comfort her. He knows how independent she can be, and that she will be okay with some time to herself for now.Mizumi continues to sulk for the rest of the weekend, locking herself in her room and barely eating the meals her friends bring to her. She pushes everyone away over text as she falls into the same depressive state that she did when she was still grieving over her mother's death. The loss of her ice child hurts just as much as her mother's suicide, and she takes her time as she heals from the trauma.
Tired of seeing two of his closest friends at odds with each other and worried about the future of the friend group, Kirishima decides to take matters into his own hands. He was the only one Bakugo had told about her slapping him, and how bad he felt about intentionally breaking her heart. It's not very often Bakugo shows how much he really cares about someone, so Kirishima understands the situation and knows what he needs to do to help them be friends again.
He sends Mizumi a text message, asking her to come downstairs for something really important. He gives no details when she responds to ask why, but tells her it is urgent. He sits in the common room after everyone else had gone to their own rooms for the night, waiting for his friend with Bakugo at his side.
"I hope she shows up. I sent her a text like forever ago. Where is she?" Kirishima asks, glancing anxiously at his phone to re-read Mizumi's text agreeing to meet up with him in a few minutes.
"Cool your jets, I'm right here." Mizumi says calmly from behind him as she quietly approaches.
"You came?"
"You called."
Mizumi stops in her tracks when she notices her current mortal enemy waiting for her as well. "Why are you here? Kiri said it was urgent...I thought one of my friends was in danger."
"Just sit down and listen, damn it." Bakugo says quietly, lacking his usual aggressive attitude.
"Look, I'm sorry I had to trick you," Kirishima apologizes. "But Bakugo really wants to talk to you, and you've been really distant lately."
"Fine. You have my attention." Mizumi crosses her arms as she takes a seat on the other side of Kirishima. "What do you want?"
"I want you to forgive me already..." Bakugo says honestly.
Mizumi gives him an unimpressed look that tells him to make things up to her as quickly as possible, before she has a chance to walk away from him again.
"I'm gonna leave you two alone, so you can talk privately for a few minutes. Just hear him out, okay?" Kirishima says as he gets up. "Good luck. I hope you guys can be friends again soon."
Mizumi sighs as her friend abandons her with someone she wants nothing to do with for the time being. What Bakugo had done was unforgivable, but she's willing to hear him out for Kirishima's sake.
Her friends are so lucky that she would do anything for them.
"Goldfish-" Bakugo starts before Mizumi cuts him off.
"You know my name, Katsuki. Please use it. Call me Siren."
"Fine. Siren."
"Yes?"
"I'm sorry."
"So you've said. But how do I know you mean it?"
