✦𖣠✦He looked at her with a puzzled expression, which made her that much more uncomfortable. Evie was about to start panting; she was that out of breath. It felt like she was chasing after him with his long strides.
They went down the spiraled stone staircase. Another hall came into sight. " How much longer?" she muttered under her breath.
Evie thought this place looked like where the Slytherin house dormitory would exist. To her surprise, the air was still fresh; she expected a mildew smell to be floating around her. They finally turned one last corner into an abandoned classroom.
Evie took in her surroundings. The classroom was dark but warm. Blank canvases rested on the walls, draped like children being tucked in. In the center of the classroom was a fireplace, with two large armchairs facing the fire. A small lamp sat between them on the floor, looking out of place with its crystal lampshade.
There were two long, crooked, and uneven tables towards the back. Chairs were pushed into the tables, which looked like they could break if the tiniest bit of weight rested on them. Books sat on the tables stacked high. This looked like a place that had been used but never loved.
Draco cleared his throat to get Evie's attention, "I think this was an old tutor classroom."
Evie nodded and pulled out one of the chairs next to the table, "is it safe to sit in?"
He nodded and took the seat across from her. he reached for the tower of books and picked the top one, holding it in his large hand. He placed the book in front of her, hoping she would get the message so she could read the content.
"What potion are we working on? Did you figure out the antidote to the Animula potion?" Evie questioned Draco.
He shook his head, not looking up. " No, I couldn't find the antidote anywhere. I think I could ask a fifth-year for their notes." Draco then looked into her eyes and at the book. " Go through that book. It might have the next potion, Mardia."
Evie made the okay sign with her hand. " Okay," she said, smiled, and got to work. Her eyes skimmed the pages, looking for the word Mardia. It must have something to do with the sea. Her mind pulled her away from the words on the page.
Draco noticed her looking up away from the page, lost in thought again. "This girl can't keep herself down in this world," he muttered. He was slightly surprised his words didn't pull her from the clouds. "Evera?" he poked her arm.
Her brown eyes repeatedly blinked, and a sheepish smile crossed her face. "Sorry, Malfoy. It's been a weird day for me." Draco's eyebrow raised in annoyance, but it looked like intrigue to Evie. "It's because there was this drum-strang boy. He is charming, but I don't think he would ever like me."
"the one that was next to you the other day?"
Evie nodded in confirmation, "Yeah, him. Do you think he is out of my, you know, league?"
"yeah, he is, but he started talking to you, so that's something."
Evie opened and closed her mouth li. "You're rude."
"you asked. Do you want me to lie?" Draco challenged
"I guess not. There are still nicer ways to say something like that."
Draco smirked, "I thought you would know by now I'm not exactly nice." Evie thought about her following retort, and Draco could see her conjuring up the words. Draco couldn't help but think it was cute watching her ponder on a comeback and getting bothered by him.
"Do you have a girlfriend?" Evie caught him off-guard. She shook her hands in front of him, " Not like that... it's just how good are you at relationship advice in general?"
