Bronte

It's nice to finally have some time off, wake up in my own bed, not have to worry about getting out of the door at a certain time. It's just me in my own house...along with my security team in the guesthouse - but they switch up if they have families.

Lloyd is here permanently.

I'm not complaining though, considering he ensures that no one breaks into my bedroom night after night.

Currently we're in New York, having flown in for the New York Avengers game against the Guardians. Cressida is also here watching Johnny and afterwards we'll be heading out for dinner.

Lloyd stays within reach of me as I arrive and see paps waiting, Court asking them to stay back as I walk past and into the stadium to Johnny's suite.

Cressida hugs me as I walk in, and I say hello to everyone, soon seeing a pretty blonde girl talking to Johnny's sister Sue. "Who's she?" I ask, not having seen her before.

"That's Lindy, Coach Phillips daughter? He's come back for a while until Coach Fury is back from having his surgery".

Chester Phillips was the coach before Fury, and is the Avengers legend. Everyone knows his face, he got Steve Rogers to where he was in the early days of his career. I don't bother to ask whether she's something to Johnny, after all the guy is a player. Literally. If she had any sense then she'd stay away from him.

We get some drinks and sit down ready to watch the game. "So how's you and stache?" Cressida asks quietly. Lloyd is by the door while Court and another member of the team are outside.

"I mean, it's going ok actually. Now I'm off tour for a while we've kinda just been together, ok he spends most of his time working in the guesthouse but at night? Well...wow..." I smirk and sip my drink. "Didn't dilfy lawyer wanna come today?"

"Not his kinda thing, plus he's so busy with work it's a wonder that I ever see him at all. He's currently sorting the shit with your step brother. Speaking of which, are those two even together?"

"I really have no idea. Curtis rarely opens up to me at the best of times. He might tell me soon if they are".

"Have you even met the kid yet?"

I shake my head. "No. Curtis needs time to sort things out and then when the shit calms down then I'll meet him".

We watch the game, and I note Lindy chewing on one of the nails, clearly keeping her eyes on Johnny. "Lindy?" I now lean over Cressida and she turns to me and smiles. "We're going out for dinner tonight, with Johnny? Do you wanna join us? You're welcome to".

She looks a little surprised. "Oh...that's really sweet of you, but it's ok. I don't wanna be a tag along". Now waving it off politely. "Thank you though. I appreciate the invite". Her cheeks have turned a flattering shade of pink and she gets up to quickly go and get another drink.

I sit back and look at Cressida. "They're fucking". I confirm my suspicions based on Lindy's reaction.

"They have to be". She laughs quietly and turns her attention back to the game, texting Andy every so often. I know it's him because he's under the name 'Lawyer Daddy' on her contacts. I wonder if he knows that?

The Avengers completely triumph over the Guardians on the field, and the stadium atmosphere is electric. Cressida and I are cheering along with Sue and her husband Reed, and as I look over at Lindy I see a small smile on her lips and she claps by herself. I catch Johnny on the screen and he seems to be looking up, searching.

He has to be searching for her.

Then she turns and leaves the suite. I look back as she thanks Lloyd, and he nods and says something to her, before letting her out.

We go back to the hotel we're staying in for the night and soon are on our way to meet Johnny. He's pretty much booked out the restaurant regardless of whether the team won or lost - and it seems that the media have been tipped off, as they're all gathered outside when we arrive.

Lloyd gets out and opens my door, the flashes of the camera going off as I go to walk in. Then suddenly he's marching away from me, yelling at one of the paps. "Stand up! Fucking stand up!" He shouts as the pap still is trying to take pictures from where he's crouched down.

He's trying to take one at an angle that could go up my dress...

"I said stand the fuck up sunshine or I break the damn camera! You're not getting a million dollar shot up her dress!"

The pap now starts shouting at Lloyd who then takes the camera and smashes it on the floor in anger. The guy then takes a swing but misses, however Lloyd then punches him in the nose. Court pushes me and Cressida into the restaurant before he heads back out to help Lloyd.

Shit...

Did the guy get pictures zoomed right up my dress? It's short enough. If anything like that got put on the internet then I'd never live it down.

The rest of the team keep me and Cressida safe but Lloyd never comes in. Eventually Court does and leans down while I'm nervously sipping my drink, still feeling shaky from earlier.

"The pap wants to press charges. Cops have taken Lloyd for now so they can sort out the situation".

"Oh fuck". I groan and massage my forehead.  "But the guy was trying to get shots up my dress? Didn't you tell them?"

"I'm sure Lloyd will. Don't worry, we'll sort it. Just try and enjoy your evening somewhat. Media has been asked to leave so we'll be ok getting back to the hotel".

I won't be though. Not until I know that nothing will happen to Lloyd because of his actions. He was only doing his job. Protecting me.

My father's name soon flashes up on my phone and I answer it. "Hey dad".

"What the fuck went on tonight?"

"I'm still trying to find out, but Lloyd was protecting me..." I explain to him.

He sighs. "Fine. I'll find out what's happening and see what I can do. You ok though?"

"Yeah, kinda...just worried about what kind of pictures the guy got".

"Hopefully none going by the footage I've seen of Hansen smashing it to pieces".

I'm sure I'll find out what's happening soon, but right now I'm too worried to eat - not just about the potential pictures, but of the outcome of the whole situation with Lloyd.

By the next morning, I have my answer - and it's not what  I expect.
