Merrysville. It was only a few miles down the road from Podunk by bicycle, foot, or car. It was just another dot on the map that nobody really paid much mind to. You'd probably go through Merrysville while traveling off to the much more interesting towns or cities that are along the coast rather than smack dab in the middle of nowhere.

Merrysville was a city that you could tell if you are getting close to because the leaves never turn green or fall from the trees. The woods were a huge ocean of autumn colors that were bright and fiery. The residents even dressed up more cozy than you'd find someone in Podunk, wearing sweaters and fuzzy boots and the like. To think that only a couple miles away from this city lies a constantly hot town where the leaves never fall.

As Ninten watched the leaves change from green to the more warmer colors of autumn, he began to reminisce about a few things. One'd think that he hadn't changed at all, and he was still a horrible, bratty kid that everyone feared, but to be honest, having people who saw him as a person rather than a monster was something fleeting, and satisfying. He won't tell a single soul though.

The sun was starting to fall behind the Itoi Mountain range that lined the horizon, so he began to speed walk faster down the road, hearing his sneakers begin to crunch on the dead leaves that littered the side of the road. With such supernatural things occuring, he was not stoked to see how the night had changed alongside the animals and people. And he was not stoked to encounter aliens when he was tired, groggy, and still recovering from the lab fight. He wiped his brow with his sleeve.

"The walk's never this damn long. Then again, I was in a bus last time I was on this damn road.", He muttered to himself.

He was growing impatient with himself, and began to walk faster down the road, his eyebrows furrowing as he did. The warm, humid air began to slowly chill, it sent a shiver down his spine but he paid no mind to it. Before he knew it, the small hill that led down to the Merrysville Valley was just in sight so he began to break into a sprint.

Running up the hill was a struggle, but he did eventually make it to the top of it. Looking down, he saw the buildings and houses lit up for the night, and beside him was the white, bright sign in red and blue lettering, 'Eelcomw ot Yerrmville.'

He immediately got weirded out because, before the world basically went topsy turvy and broke, he very vividly remembered that it was not a mash of gibberish. He couldn't even read a few of the letters and had to guess a couple of them because the letters were so wobbly. With a groan of frustration, he came to a simple conclusion.

The same thing that happened in Podunk was happening in Merrysville as well.

"Well ain't that just great!" He yelled to himself.

He stomped down the hill, kicking rocks under his feet.

"Ain't that just the bees knees. Every shitty town from here to timbuck-two is gettin' turned stupid. Great! Exactly what I wanted. I sooooo wanted this little 'adventure' to be as simple as one-two-three, but noooo!" He complained.

He got jumped by a couple of aggressive snakes and butterflies again but he swiftly delivered a swing to them, knocking them out of their states and also throwing them out of the way.

"It's almost like the world is just wanting to annoy me for the rest of time! I'd rather choke and die rather than help this shitty town!"

He kicked another rock, right into the side of the gas station that lay just outside of town. He bit his lip in anger.

"Because nothing good comes out of Merrysville! Nothing! So I, for one, ain't havin' no fun here!"

He didn't pay any mind to the adults that watched him with disgust. He looked up and around at the signs for something to do, only to notice something quite strange with the signs as well, almost all of them were unreadable except for a few letters, just like the welcome sign. He pulled a face at the prospect of having to fix Merrysville as well.
