hi i'm amara cameron. niece of ward cameron, daughter of juliana cameron. and cousin of sarah, rafe, and weezie cameron. now you're probably wondering why that matters, but this is the story about the summer that changed. everything.

let start off with the day i got to Kildare island.

i'm sitting in the car as my mom drives,  "you know maybe this summer won't be the same, things might change" my mother says trying to cheer my up. I've always been bored going to Kildare island, i mean rafe and sarah are always off somewhere. wheezie and i aren't the closest; so i spend most of my time roaming the streets of kildare, finding something to do. throughout that time i taught myself how to surf.

"maybe, but it's the same every year. i don't know why you don't just let me stay home with my friends" i state. "because this is the only time you get to see your family and besides your uncle loves having you" i roll my eyes, "whatever you say"

i watch as we drive past the sign that says kildare island. welcome back i guess.

i rest my head on the window as we drive by houses, the car slows down and i look at the nice house. i sigh, "come on. it won't be that bad" my mother says. she gets out of the car and i see sarah, she sees me. "amara!" she runs over and engulfs me in a hug, "hey sarah"

"it's been too long" she says. "yea"

"any cute boys at school?" i shake my head. "never is" she shrugs, "sarah help amara with her bags!" i hear my uncle yell. "hey ward" i say, "what's up sweetie"

he walks down the steps of his house towards me, rose right behind him. i never liked rose, feel like she's using them for their money. "what's up little brother" my mom says to ward, "hey juliana"

i grab two of my suitcases, my mom thinks i need at least 4. i only need 2 but she insists.

sarah grabs the other two and we carry them into the house. "my dad set the room up for you today, well. i set the room up for you" i nod slowly. we walk up the stairs and she leads me to the same room as always.

the door opens revealing a beautiful room. white walls, with little decorations on the wall.

i set the suitcases down and sit on the bed, "want to go to this party tomorrow night?" sarah asks. i look at her, "me? party?"

"come on it'll be fun it's on the beach. so wear your bathing suit, topper is picking us up at 7" i shake my head, "come on it'll be fun, there's gonna be boys, and booze, and you look a lot different from last summer. so if you don't have any cute bathing suits. you can wear one of mine" i shake my head, "fine"

"yay! ok. i'm gonna go i'll see you later"

she walks out of the room. i lay on the bed and sigh, my first party of the summer. i usually dip out on those, she invites me every year i come back. but i never say yes. i don't know why this summer is different, probably because i don't want the same old boring summers i'd have.

i open my suitcase and grab a baby blue two piece, change. my best friend ellie bought this for me when we went shopping, told me if i didn't wear this at least once this summer she'd bury me when we got back.

i grab my phone off my bed and facetime her, she answers after the first ring. "you're there? how is it?" she asks right away. "i don't know, i just got here"

"any parties tonight?" i nod. "not tonight but tomorrow. sarah convinced me to go"

"good! you're living up to our deal" the deal we made, that i change the way these summers went. find a boy or two to flirt with, change my clothes, she bought me a whole new wardrobe for this trip i swear. "i am"
