"How many more speakers do we fucking need?!"
I shouted at the phone as Michael and Calum struggled to carry the speakers that would probably occupy the whole van.
"Enough for hell to vibrate!" With a laugh, Matty shouted back. With a groan, I was ready to hang up when he said, "I apologize. That's enough."
"You better be, Healy. Or I will slam your guitar against your head."
"Ooooh, feisty."
After hanging up, I grabbed a second speaker from the door and placed it inside the van.
I had no idea that I would have to put in this much effort to meet these boys' expectations for a party. No wonder they have such great parties. Your muscles must be used as payment.
I have not spoken to Emily since our disagreement. For a while, we got along well when I tried to visit her, until I told her about Matty's party. Emily probably assumed that I would be smoking marijuana again, so she threw me out right away.
After waiting for her to come out of her house for three hours, I finally had enough and chose to assist with the party.
To test someone for three hours is excessive.
"Alright, let's roll. Kegs next." Calum spoke as I scrolled on the list on my phone.
"Man, they're not gonna hold back on this one, are they?" I asked.
"No. This will be massive."

After a few hours of preparation, guests began to arrive at Matty's house. It was only five pm when I checked the clock. "Whoa, people cannot wait to party." I thought to myself as I changed into my ACDC shirt.
As I was leaving Matty's room, I ran into Lauren, who was wearing an apron and had a tray of cupcakes.
"Wow, Lo. You prepared the foods?"
"No, just the cupcakes. George helped me." She smiled shyly.
"George, huh?" I smirked.
She went downstairs after giving me a gentle chest punch. As I followed her, I was astounded by how quickly people were showing up.
Emily, dressed in a black top and torn jeans, caught my eye from a distance.
Hot.
"I thought you're officially a hater of the Matty Party?" With a sly smile, I walked over to her and put my hands on her waist.
"Yes, I am. But I gotta keep someone named Y/N Y/LN in check." She said as she took my hands away.
Before I could protest, she walked away from me and came to her friends.
Tease.
Time has passed. It's now 8 in the evening. I have never come into contact with any drinks or blunts. Something in me just didn't want it. I wanted to savor this particular moment. Last day to spend with my blokes.
"What you up to, mate? Not having that much fun?" With a swing of his arm over my shoulder, Matty approached me.
"No, no. I'm just sad, man. I will miss you and the other guys." I smiled.
"Now, Y/LN, do not be so sentimental. All of you will be missed as well. You've been great. We will give you a shout-out the first time we receive an award, I promise." He tapped my shoulder as he pulled me up.
"You promise?"
"Of course, kid."
Matty and I started dancing silly to Nicki Minaj's "Pound The Alarm" before our friends joined in.
It was honestly fun. It reminded me of the positive aspects of attending school. Just the things that make us feel young and alive—friends, parties, dancing, singing.
As they kept dancing, I decided to look for Emily, which I cannot find for whatever reason. When Shawn noticed me aimlessly wandering, I gestured for him to come get some fresh air with me in the front yard.
I walked over to Kendall after spotting her from a distance.
"Hey did you see Emily?"
"Hi, Y/N. She was with the girls in the restroom the last time I saw her. Don't mind them. It's always like that for us."
"Why do you assume I don't know? I am a woman too, you know." I chuckled.
With a laugh, she gestured downward.
"Honey, that is not the same. It is not bad, mind you. It is a different hormonal issue, though."
Shawn and I exchanged bewildered glances before deciding to simply accept whatever the devil she was saying and leave.
"You seemed occupied. What's wrong?" Shawn asked as he sat beside me.
"Everything was going well with me and Emily, Shawn. I would even like to think that I would be falling for her only if it wasn't for—... wasn't for what? That's exactly what I thought. I couldn't find out what's holding me back. I don't understand why I cannot just move forward completely with Emily. Is it because I'm scared?"
"Maybe. But that's normal, Y/N. Your last relationship wasn't actually as good, so I understand why." He answered.
"But Emily fully accepted who I am. She was most willing to show me her affection that I thought I wouldn't get before." Suddenly, I began to ramble.
However, it dawned on me that I was also like this with Lauren. In spite of my greatest insecurity following the breakup with Camila, she was most willing to love me.
Was Camila the reason all along? She cannot be, as our breakup was quite some time ago. I am content with Emily. It is not possible.
Shawn only looked at me apologetically.
Before I could finish thinking, a car pulled up in front of the gates. Normani ran towards us as soon as she got out of the car.
"Fuck! Thank god you're here. Come with me, please." Normani breathed heavily and found it difficult to speak.
"Mani, what's wrong?"
"I'll tell in the car. Please. Come with me."
"She's not leaving without me." Shawn spoke as he ran with us to Mani's car.
