Soon I was discharged from the hospital and that same day was the court trial for the person responsible for starting the fire. Dad knocks on the door and comes in. I'm in a hoodie and tracksuit bottoms with comfy trainers. He grabs my bag and we get to the car.
We get to the house and I go in and go straight to my room. I spot an outfit on my bed and I decide to go take a shower. After I shower I carding have to reread my burns on my stomach that leads further up my torso. I put on a sports bra and put a black shirt sleeve button up shirt on carefully so I don't knock my burns that have just started to scar. I then put on a pair of formal black trousers and tuck my shirt in loosely. I thread a brown belt through the belt loops and put it on a loose setting. I then take a seat on my bed and put my socks on. My torso starts to ache but I ignore it. I then put in and lace up my platform loafers. My gaze meets my vanity that has pictures of my sister and I all over the boarder of the mirror. I just stare at it.
I get knocked out of my thoughts by a knock at my door. It opens to reveal my uncle Hank. He takes a seat next to me on my bed and he pulls me into a gentle side hug. I pull away.
"I'm fine. You guys don't have to keep coddling me."I tell him. We get off my bed and walk out of my room. I reach dads car and I turn to my uncle.
"I'll see you there," I tell him and he nods getting in his own truck. I get into the car and dad gets in soon after with mum.Soon we reach the courthouse and we park up. We all get out of the car and head in. We go through security and soon reach the right courtroom. We get stopped.
"No under 16's in this room, sorry." The security guard apologises.
"I'll start with her,you two go in." Hank's voice comes from behind us. I nod to my dad and he enters the room with mum. I sit on a bench outside, waiting. After a few hours the door reopens and I get motioned to come inside. Hank follows me in.
"A victim and survivor. Jasmine Daniella Olinsky." The judge announces.I get let intro he front of the courtroom and I spot a bit a year or so older than me in cuffs being held by guards.
"Is there anything you wish to say to Dylan Oates the boy who set the fire? The judge asks me. I nod and look the boy right in the eyes.
"My sister was in that building. We were having a sleepover as an early celebration for my 16th birthday which is in a few days. She was 19 years old. And she's dead because of your actions."I start."The amount of people you killed couldn't even fit on one board. Look at these pictures of those who have died because of your stupid and selfish actions. Knowing someone you love died and not being able to tell them that you tried to find them,to save them,it hurts. I hope every single one of these faces haunt you whenever you close your eyes. Murderers of innocent kids have a time frame in prison. I hope you suffer in pain like the other 40 innocent teens did." I spit. I shoot him a glare. I then turn around and storm out of the courthouse.
