After the final exam, Hanni receives a call from the company where she interviewed. She's informed she can start work the next day. After the call ends, she shares the news with her girlfriend.
The next day, Hanni arrives early at the office. The company is severely understaffed, yet the salary is low. Her main motivation for taking this internship is to gain experience, so she accepts it, recognizing that finding an internship isn't easy, and she doesn't mind the pay.
The man Hanni met during the interview is also hired. Both of them are shown around by another intern to understand the company's conditions, and they are assigned to different departments. Her role is as an assistant designer, and she's seated near a familiar woman she met during the interview, Noh Yunah.
Hanni learns from Yunah, but because it's her first day, she's unsure what to do. However, she quickly finds herself busy.
The company has a rule against working overtime on the first day. At 6:00 p.m., Hanni notices it's time to leave, but Youngseo doesn't let her go.
Hanni senses that Yunah isn't very friendly toward her. Overtime is common in advertising, but Yunah neither leaves nor gives her permission to go. She simply stays at her desk, drawing.
After a long time, Yunah finally says to Hanni, "I'll leave first. Finish your design, then go home."
When Hanni leaves the office, it's already 8:00 p.m. She hasn't had dinner, only some biscuits earlier, so she buys a steamed bun with meat filling from a nearby shop. She finds a bench and sits down to eat, when Minji calls.
"Still working overtime?"
Hanni sighs, "No, I'm done."
"You're so busy you had to stay late on your first day?" Minji says.
"When I interviewed, they said no overtime was required. And the guy from the interview left on time," Hanni complains, feeling wronged. "I was even scolded all day."
After a pause, Minji says, "Where are you? I'll come find you."
By the time her girlfriend arrives, Hanni still hasn't finished her bun. She doesn't have much of an appetite and only drinks her tea, looking at Minji but not getting up.
Minji kneels down. "Eating a steamed bun all alone?"
Hanni stays silent.
Minji smiles, "Why so miserable?"
Hanni takes another bite of her bun.
"Enough. I'll take you somewhere better to eat."
"I'm not hungry," Hanni shakes her head. "I just want to go home, shower, and sleep."
"This is all you've had for dinner?"
Hanni replies honestly, "I had some biscuits before this."
"Come on, let's get you a bowl of porridge." Minji frowns. "Even if you work late, you should still eat properly." She helps Hanni up and says, "You're upset because of work?"
"Honestly, I've only been scolded a few times in my life, and today was worse than any of them."
"If you're unhappy, maybe you shouldn't go back. You're only in your first year. No need to rush it."
Hanni, realizing she might be overreacting, says, "It's only my first day. It's manageable."
"Well, you could always work at my company."
Hanni replies, "I don't think your company hires interns."
Minji grins, "I'll help you get in."
Hanni laughs, thinking she's just joking. "Then you'd better make me the head of the interns."
