"No, you were the scared one."
"No way, you're the one who reached for my hand! That roller coaster was so slow."
"Whatever," Camila laughed lightly and felt a slight wave of disappointment wash over her as they both now reached Lauren's front door. She never really wanted the moments with Lauren to end.
"I had fun," Lauren smiled down at the smaller girl. A wide grin spread across Camila's face and she leaned in to capture her girlfriend's lips. Before anything else happened, Lauren's front door was swung open with Chris standing on the other side.
"Woah," Chris laughed awkwardly, immediately turning away. He turned back around when Lauren slightly shoved him to the side and allowed Camila inside.
"And where are you two going?" Lauren's mom asked from the living room.
"We're just going to get my keys from upstairs since I wanna drive her home; we walked a lot toda-"
"Oh no you're not going up there together. Camila, stay down here," Clara said without looking down from her knitting. Confused, Camila stayed while Lauren slowly but surely made her way upstairs, giving Camila an 'I don't know' look.
"Excuse her," Chris whispered to Camila as he walked upstairs to his room.
This left Camila alone with Clara. She was awkwardly standing by the stairs, and she could feel the awkward vibe.
"So, when are you going back to Chris?"
"What?" Camila responded.
"This is obviously to get Chris jealous, isn't it?" Clara asked, now standing up and walking towards Camila.
"No, I'm actually in love with her and I would never use her like that-"
"Save it," Clara interrupted Camila. "My baby's not getting hurt again."
Camila didn't know what to do. She was confused and a bit hurt of thr assumptions made. Either way, Camila wasn't going to take it.
Camila began walking towards the front door to leave, not even bothering to tell Lauren. She figured she'd text her later.
"And don't bother talking to Lauren or coming back here again!" was the last thing Camila heard before walking home. These were the times where Camila was grateful that they lived only 10 minutes away.
As Camila walked past her house gate, she was excited to see a car parked in the driveway.
She ran to her porch and through her house door to find her parents sitting comfortably on one of the couches.
"Mom! Dad!"
Camila ran to them, capturing both of them in a much needed hug. Not only was she torn about the whole Lauren situation, but she hasn't seen her parents in a few months. It was perfect timing.
After hanging out together for a while, both Cabello parents went to go pick up Sofi from their aunt's house. They knew Camila was trying to be a teen and have fun, so they never left Camila with Sofi when they were out for business trips.
Meanwhile, Camila was up in her room, oddly curling around one of Lauren's sweaters.
In the corner of her eye, she could see her guinea pigs chasing each other around. Cici, Elle, and Jay. Their initials.
The little argument that Camila had with Clara began lingering in her head, so she took her phone out to take her mind off of things.
But her mind went right back to the argument when she saw missed text messages from Lauren.
