" good thing, my daddy made me get a boating license when i was fifteen."
MURDER ALWAYS SEEMED UNREAL. Horror movies always portray it uniquely but the idea of it happening in real life always frightens you. Why would a human being harm one of their own? You always thought about that. The question of what drove all those infamous serial killers to snap. In some cases, it was the neglectful upbringing or the past trauma. In rare cases, there's just a spark. A lightbulb inside their head that yearns for the kill.
You noticed it in movies and shows. You were always quite good at analyzing anyway. Of course, how it was portrayed on the big screen wasn't always accurate, but it gave you a grasp of the nefarious intentions.
However, you always found those horror movies to be so cliche. Despite your love for slasher films, most of it seemed repetitive. It was always the same thing: An intentionally attractive killer that no one suspects, the nerd, the goofy one, the feminist, the one who wouldn't last a second with the killer, and the final girl. You were tired of the same story being used over and over.
From Halloween to I Know What You Did Last Summer, you needed a break! Well, truly, those movies could never get old, but they were just a way of showing teens that killing is cool. Which is why you adored films like Carrie, Silence of the Lambs, and Night of the Living Dead. Because it's so much more than the killing.
They put you in the mind of the killer.
Thankfully, you didn't have much to worry about. Woodsboro, being a quiet town, had a very low crime rate. That made you feel better for the most part. Not to mention the fact that your mother was a nurse and your father a surgeon. In the case that anything was to happen to you, they were experienced.
But despite the thrill of the dangerous nation you call home, you were glad to have friends instead of being alone all the time. Your friend group had been together for as long as you could remember. You can't even remember how you all came to be friends. It all just kind of happened. You all clicked and had been closer than ever.
There was Sidney, your ride or die. You guys were practically sisters. You did everything together. She was the girl you could go to for anything and she would never judge. She was dating:
Billy. Billy... Only the most attractive guy in all of Woodsboro if you ask all of the town's female population. He was your typical athlete type, standing tall and strong. You couldn't deny that even though he and Sidney were dating, you were sporting a bit of a crush on him. A crush you'd had for too long to count. You never chose to act on it, given how Sidney found an interest in him. Now they had been dating for what seemed like forever. He was sweet, to you at least. Anyone else would call him a flirtatious dickwad. But it seemed like he had a soft spot for you, underneath the tough guy persona.
