2 Months Later...
My phone buzzed on a Saturday morning, dragging me out of a sweet, blissful dream. Sarah's name flashed on the screen. Ugh, really? Not what I needed right after a long week of corporate chaos.
"Yup?" I mumbled, voice thick with sleep, hoping she couldn't hear the drool on the pillow.
"Get ready to party, sleepyhead!" Sarah chirped, way too peppy for my tired soul. "The Witches are hitting up Hey Dude Club tonight, and you're coming! All the girls will be there!"
I groaned like an old woman getting up from a nap. "Hold on, hold on. Hey Dude Club with the Witches? Tonight? No way," I sputtered, nearly choking on my own drool. "Girl, you know I'm down for a good time, but random club nights with the coven? That's not exactly my idea of a perfect Saturday night."
"Uh oh, is that a 'no' I hear? Remember, you haven't met my friend I talked about," she teased, and I swear I could hear the mischievous grin on her face through the phone.
"Yeah, your flirt buddy," I replied, rolling my eyes.
"Exactly! And you haven't been paid yet."
"Paid for what? And why do I feel like I'm suddenly drowning in debt?" My brain was already trying to process what kind of deal I was getting into.
"Spot on! Don't get me wrong. I ended the night up with her just so you know," Sarah said, dropping the bomb like it was no big deal.
My jaw nearly hit the floor. "What the—! Seriously?"
"Yep. So, be sure to show up. See you later!" she said, all casual, like it was just another Tuesday.
"Wh–wait, hold on!" I stammered, but the line went dead.
She'd already hung up. Classic Sarah. Always dragging me into these messes without a second thought. Well, it's not like I had a choice now, right? The universe was clearly conspiring against me... or maybe this was just Sarah being Sarah. Either way, I had a feeling this was about to be one wild Saturday.
And on top of everything else, she ended up the night with her??? I can't believe it! Sarah is way more... energetic when it comes to that kind of thing, huh? Well, maybe that's an understatement.
Okay, okay, maybe calling them a "coven" was a bit dramatic, but you get the idea. A bunch of strangers, blaring music, and who knows what kind of questionable after-party shenanigans. Not exactly my scene. Me? I'm more of a Netflix and chill with a giant pizza kind of person.
But Sarah? She has this weird way of getting me to do things I wouldn't normally even consider. And sure, a little people-watching never hurt anyone. Maybe I'd get lucky and see some epic dance moves—or at least a few legendary fails. Hey, everyone needs their entertainment, right?
My stomach growled, reminding me that grocery shopping is now a must. A quick stop at the convenience store, and I was walking out with fresh milk, fluffy eggs, and the perfect loaf of bread. Also grabbed some ramen and seaweed for my midnight movie binge sessions (because, let's face it, I had to be prepared for whatever solo movie marathon was in my future).
But as I made my way back through the hallway, a familiar sight stopped me dead in my tracks: another hyacinth flower. Its blue petals practically screamed for attention, like it had been waiting there just for me. My smile crept up, realizing this wasn't just a one-time thing—my secret flower friend was back.
And beside the pot, sitting innocently, was a small, folded card. Curiosity bubbled up as I unfolded it. The words inside made my heart do a little happy flip-flop.
