Sometimes I Wonder (Percabeth)

Percy's POV

I walked into me favorite coffee shop, tucked away in between a couple of department stores. The door jingled as it opened and I went up to the counter to order my drink, seeing a blonde head bobbing behind the counter.

I stood in line behind a dark haired boy who was tapping his foot impatiently. When it was finally my turn, I walked up to the counter.

"Hey, Annabeth," I said, smiling. Her stormy gray eyes soften when she sees me.

"Hello, Percy. The usual?" She asked. I nodded and handed her a ten dollar bill. Our fingers brushed and she smiled before putting the bill in the cash register and handing me my change. Annabeth turned away to make my coffee and I slipped the change into her tip jar, like usual. I knew she was saving up for an apartment because her roommate didn't like her very much but she refused to accept my offer to move in with me. I really like Annabeth. She's funny and smart and really pretty.

Annabeth came back with my coffee (double cream, extra sugar) and used a set of tongs to get a chocolate chip muffin out of the display case.

"There you go," she said, putting the muffin on a napkin and placing it on the counter beside my coffee.

"Thanks, Annie," I grabbed my food and headed over to my usual booth in the corner.

"How many times do I have to tell you not to call me 'Annie'?" She asked, just like always.

I chuckled as I sat down and pulled out my laptop. I had a paper due tomorrow and this was the only place I could focus. Annabeth started wiping down the counter as I finished my introductory paragraph.

By the time I had finished my rough draft, the sun was setting. I glanced up as Annabeth turned the sign on the door to "Sorry, we're closed" and rest my elbows on the table. I run my fingers through my hair when I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"Stay as long as you like," Annabeth tells me, "I don't mind staying a while longer." She put another chocolate chip muffin down next to my laptop and walked away.

"Thank you," I said as I began the tedious process of revising and editing my paper while Annabeth swept the shop. By the time she was done, I had finished editing and, sure I missed more than a few mistakes, called Annabeth over.

"Could you, um, edit my paper for me?" I asked, feeling my cheeks flush.

"Sure," Annabeth replied, sitting down across from me and pulling my laptop towards her.

Her eyebrows knit together as she reads through it and she looks up at me. "Sometimes I wonder how you passed high school," she told me.

I chuckled and said "Sometimes I wonder why you still work at a coffee shop."

"Sometimes I wonder how your friends stand to be around you."

"Sometimes I wonder why you're so stubborn."

Annabeth goes back to editing my paper, but not before saying "Sometimes I wonder why you can't spell simple words."

We go on like that for about half an hour. Playing "Sometimes I wonder" while she edits my paper. Her nails click away at the key board and I try to come up with comments that are as witty and sarcastic as hers.

Finally she turned my laptop around and said "Sometimes I wonder if you have a girlfriend."

"Sometimes I wonder if you'd let me kiss you," I told her and watched as her head popped up.

"Sometimes I wonder why you haven't tried," she said, looking down at her lap.

I reached across the table and cupped her chin in my hand, causing her eyes to meet mine. I leaned across the table and pecked her lips playfully. I slid out of my seat and into the bench beside Annabeth. She waisted no time crashing her lips into mine and fifteen minutes later we walked out of the coffee shop hand in hand and made our way to the subway to head back to my place.

NO THEY DID NOT DO THE DIRTY. THEY KISSED AND CLOSED UP THE COFFEE SHOP AND THEN THEY WENT BACK TO PERCY'S TO WATCH DISNEY MOVIES. GET YOUR MIND OUT OF THE GUTTER. I got the inspiration for this from the "favorite barista" AU so this is my little one-shot take on it. I really hope you like it. I think it's really cute. Also, I wrote this on my phone so I'll put in the bold later and change it to my normal authors note format. I feel the need to inform you that I'm going on vacation so I might not be able to post very much for the next three weeks but I'll try to get enough typed so that I can post every couple days. I have a lot of spare time this weekend.
