When Atreyu speaks and it's in italics, he's speaking German.
I woke up strangely. I was wrapped in blankets that weren't familiar and a scent that I hadn't known until a few days ago.
My wrists burned with the sensation of my pain.
"A-Atreyu?" My voice cracked.
"I'm right here." He pulled me to his chest.
"I-I'm sorry..."
"Don't be sorry. You're okay now." He kissed my neck.
I sat up and rubbed my eyes.
"I can barely remember yesterday." I sighed.
"I'm sure, you seemed to be traumatized."
I looked over at him then down at my hands.
The scars on my wrists were showing and I tried to cover them.
He lightly touched my arm and pulled it to his lips.
"You are beautiful." He kissed the new scars.
"I'm not." I tugged my arms out of his grip and turned my head away from him.
"You are."
"I'm not! Now stop trying to make me fall for you! I know this will not last, nothing ever does!" I pushed him away and he cradled my teary face.
"Blaine, don't think like that. It's not healthy."
"It's not healthy?" I snarled.
"Y-yeah..."
"My infatuation with you is unhealthy!" I cackled maniacally.
"I really need to take you with me to my trades. You'd scare everyone off." He muttered and my heart shattered into a million pieces.
"N-no! Not like that! I meant that laugh! Blaine, babe..." I pulled away from him and crawled off the bed.
I fell off the bed and curled up in a ball, crying.
He huddled over me and stroked my arm.
"I didn't mean it like that. Please don't cry. I hate it when you cry." He wiped the tears from my cheeks.
"S-stay away from me... you don't want me. I'm broken."
His eyes saddened.
"I'll fix you, then."
"You can't fix me!"
"Don't say that."
"But it's true."
"It's not."
"It is, I'm unfixable."
"That's too bad." He shrugged.
"W-why? Are you going to leave me?"
"Nope, I'll hot glue you together and stick you to me."
"That sounds weird."
"You're right, it does." He nodded and picked me up off the floor.
He laid me down on the bed and he crawled in beside me.
"Just be calm, you're safe." He whispered soothingly into my ear.
My breathing slowed and I cuddled into him.
I heard him chuckle and felt his breath on the back of my neck.
"What do you want for lunch?"
"Uh... I don't care."
