Scene 1: The White House - Karen's Coming Out

Karen walks into the Oval Office, her heart pounding. Mellie is seated behind her desk, shuffling through a stack of documents. She looks up, slightly irritated by the interruption.

Mellie: sighing "Karen, do you need something?"

Karen: nervously, but with determination "Mom, I need to talk to you. It's... important."

Mellie raises an eyebrow, finally giving Karen her attention.

Mellie: impatiently "Alright, I'm listening."

Karen: exhales, steadies herself "Mom... I'm gay. And I'm in a relationship."

Mellie's face goes blank, then tightens as she processes the words.

Mellie: stiffly "Karen, do you realize how this could affect us? People would call it a scandal. We're already in the spotlight, and now you throw this at us?"

Karen: hurt "So that's all I am to you? A scandal?"

Mellie: trying to justify "Karen, people don't understand this lifestyle. It's... it's a lot to take in. I'm just saying this for your own good!"

Karen, devastated, takes out her phone and calls Olivia.

Scene 2: The White House - Olivia Picks Up Karen

Olivia's phone rings, and she immediately senses the distress in Karen's voice.

Karen: holding back tears "Liv... can you come get me? Please?"

Olivia: calmly "I'll be right there. Stay where you are."

Minutes later, Olivia arrives at the White House and finds Karen standing outside, hugging herself. She places a gentle hand on Karen's shoulder.

Olivia: softly "Let's go."

In the car, Karen stares out the window in silence, trying to process everything. They arrive at Olivia's office, where Karen heads straight to the couch, curling up and eventually falling asleep with her head on Olivia's lap.

Scene 3: Olivia's Office - Olivia Calls Fitz

Olivia watches Karen sleep, then picks up her phone, dialing Fitz's number.

Olivia: whispering "Fitz... you need to come. Karen's here. It didn't go well with Mellie."

Fitz: concerned "Is she alright?"

Olivia: looking down at Karen, sadness in her eyes "She's heartbroken. I think you should talk to Mellie about how she handled this."

Fitz: frustrated "I'll take care of it. I'll be there soon."

Scene 4: The White House - Fitz Confronts Mellie

Fitz strides into the Oval Office, clearly angry. Mellie is visibly tense, anticipating his reaction.

Fitz: angry "What were you thinking, Mellie? Karen came to you with her heart on her sleeve, and you called it a scandal?"

Mellie: defensive "I was being realistic, Fitz! You know what the media would do with this. They'd turn it into a circus."

Fitz: voice rising "Karen isn't a 'scandal,' Mellie! She's our daughter, and she needs support, not judgment."

Mellie crosses her arms, her defenses weakening as she sees Fitz's anger.
