I didn't have a roommate and lived on the top floor of the three storey building that was the dormitory of the House of Dragons. Traditionally, it was only the Professors of IUSTEM who lived on the third/top floor of each house, but the ISC couldn't risk my cover being blown by having me share a room with someone.
Only two Professors lived in each dormitory; a male one and a female one. The male professor, Professor Greenwich, had recently passed away. None of the other professors had wanted to move in, so his 'apartment' (yeah, cool, right?) was open. The ISC had placed a request for it to be rented out to a student- me- and that's how I ended up in a one bedroom 'apartment' complete with a kitchen, a full blown bathroom with a Vichy shower, a walk in closet and a living room with an 84" screen smart TV.
I didn't have to go down to the Dining Hall because hey, I could make my own food. To top it off, I got pocket money, but I needed to get a part time job. Even if I had multiple bank accounts under different names that the ISC didn't know about filled with lots of money, I needed to blend in here as much as I possibly could.
I contemplated all this as I took a shower. After that I went into my closet and pulled on a blue lace underwear with a matching bra. I then got into faded blue jeans and a gray hoodie, topping it off with white sneakers that had thick silver soles.
I grabbed my satchel and put in three textbooks for the only three lectures I had that day; English, Literature and the History of Fabrics.
I pulled my hair into a thick french braid again; it was my go to style. I then took my phone, put my headphones around my neck, and left, locking the door to the 'apartment' behind me and putting the key around my neck.
In order to leave the dormitory, I needed to go through the second floor and then through the common room. I hated interacting with people. It's not that I didn't like people, I was just terrible at making friends. I fell quiet around people I didn't know, and when people around me were having a conversation, I would stand there awkwardly and feeling out of place.
I don't know how people found it so easy to make friends, and I have never understood extroverts. It's them and social butterflies.
As I walked through the common room, I felt the weight of their stares like a hundred anvils on my head.
I let out a sigh of relief when I was finally outside. From there I made my way to the auditorium where the Director of IUSTEM would deliver the welcome speech. He was recently appointed and his name was Director Alan Shaw, otherwise known to the agents of IUSTEM as Agent Nightmare.
I never understood why they called him that when he was a real nice person.
There were many other spies in this place as well.
I breathed a sigh of relief when I found the auditorium. It was not as easy as you think, seeing as there were six of them located all over the school.
The basic overall layout of the university was as follows:
Each House of which there were five had it's own designated area around the main buildings of the school. These areas were called factions and named according to the House names. Each faction consisted of a dormitory in which both boys and girls resided in, an auditorium for that House and some other basic facilities.
The five houses were;
The House of Legends
The House of Lions
The House of Diamonds
The House of Emeralds, &
The House of Dragons.
