"Stab the body and it heals, but injure the heart and the wound lasts a lifetime."XXXIV.
D A L I A
I lie awake, starring at the ceiling.
Dax lies next to me, his back turned.
I let out a sigh as I look through the big windows, the moon shining brightly.
"Go to sleep woman.", Dax grumbles.
"Sorry.", I mumble, trying to be quiet.
He sighs too, turning on his back.
"What's wrong?", he asks and I turn on my side to look at him.
"I'm worried about Tony.", I whisper.
"He's fine, you heard him.", Dax says but he doesn't sound so sure.
"He's trying to hide his feelings to protect himself. I know a lot about putting on masks.", I smile sadly, "That's what I always admire about you."
"What.", Dax frowns.
"You never put on a mask, you're always honest and if someone doesn't like it, it's their loss."
There's silence for a few minutes before Dax speaks up.
"I'm just bad at controlling my anger. Sometimes I wish I were more like you...", my eyes widen as I hear his confession.
"Don't be so surprised four eyes. You're nice, smart and everyone likes you.", a blush spreads across my face.
"The team likes you, Tony likes you, our friends and if I'm honest you're the first person I ever liked.", I whisper not looking at him.
I hear his breath hitch.
"You know as a friend.", I smile at him and he nods.
"Yeah, I guess you're not so bad either."
The next morning arrives and we get ready for the mission.
"Is everything ready?", Tony asks.
Max nods, packing away the sniper rifle, "We located Miss Romano and have the live footage ready."
