"The greatest victory is not in defeating your enemies, but in making them believe they are in control."

(POV: Aiden Arceid)
I leaned back on my chair, my fingers rhythmically tapping the wooden table as I gazed out into the horizon.
It was a 'normal' day, dare I call it... at least in the capital city, it was.
I was sitting in my office, the familiar books lying around... the familiar smell hitting my nose... it was so... peaceful.
Gentle, filtered sunlight creeped in through the windows on the wall... at a time which was all but gentle.
The people assigned to combat the growing demons were fighting tirelessly in the frontlines, while others were assigned to help evacuate the citizens from areas of risk.
However, my mind was focused on only a few, two of these 'few' being Sukuna and Ren.
I had placed them on the same team, which would lead to a faster growth in their power.
Since I, obviously, wouldn't want a boring fight, would I?
I chuckled a little... a dark, hollow chuckle reverberating in the silence of the room.
I got up from my chair, which rolled back a little, making a muffled sound on the carpet.
I slowly walked to the window, the sunlight making me squint my eyes as I looked at the edges of the city.
People were working... working on building huge walls surrounding the city, made completely of mana stone 34, to prevent demons from entering it.
I smirked at this... none of this was my doing. Ever since the demon invasion started, I had made sure to mingle in the business of humans as less as possible... just to see how they would fend against a threat of extinction.
My gaze travelled up into the sky. Clouds were floating in the silents blue river like fluffy boats, the contrast between them and the chaos on the ground was almost poetic.
I pulled out a phone from my pocket, my smirk only widening in anticipation of future events.
Fiddling with my phone for a moment, I called a certain person, putting it next to my ear as I waited for him to pick up the call.
A beep resonated next to my ear.
"Hello?" A voice came from the other side, deep and empty, as if it was a robot that was speaking.
"Zekuth..." My voice was commanding. When giving orders to a subordinate, one must be authoritative. "I have a job for you... your last one."
I could almost feel his eyes light up in joy at my statement.
It was clear that he did not like working under me... but he had vowed to do so, and according to his family's tradition... breaking one's word was the gravest sin one could possibly commit.
"What is it?" He asked, a glimmer of hope in his voice as he listened in anticipation.
My smirk widened even more, the air around me growing heavy. "Kill Eva Helion."
The line was silent for a moment, as if he was weighing his options... or maybe, just readying himself for the job.
There was an almost imperceptible sigh before his voice came from the other side. "Understood."
I immediately cut the call, the smirk slowly fading away as I fiddled with the phone, dialing a different number.
Putting it next to my ear again, a beep rang out. He had picked the call up faster than I expected. "It has been quite a while, Garu."
