" you will regret this ma"
The bitterness of betrayal and guilt gnawed at him, each memory replaying Shalini’s cold actions. He shot a quick glance at Anaya, who lay sleeping peacefully beside him, oblivious to the cruelty she had faced.
Determined, he quietly slipped out of bed and made his way toward his mother’s room. Anger blazed in his eyes as he opened the door without knocking, his presence startling Shalini.
Abhimaan: “Maa,” his voice was a deadly calm, “mujhe aapse kuch zaroori baat karni hai.”
Shalini raised an eyebrow, her expression unfazed. "Kya baat hai, Abhimaan?"
He took a deep breath, struggling to keep his composure. "Aaj raat maine CCTV footage dekhi. Aapne jo kiya, uska ek ek pal mere samne hai. Aapne Anaya ke saath jo bhi kiya, woh galat tha."
Shalini scoffed, dismissing his anger. “Tum us ladki ke liye mujhse iss tarah baat kar rahe ho? Tum toh usse sirf badla lene ke liye shaadi ki thi, hai na? Tumhare papa ne mujhe sab bata diya hai. Tumne khud kaha tha ke woh sirf ek zariya hai tumhare badle ka. Aur maine kitne sapne shaye the tumhari shaddi nitya se honi thi ”
His eyes hardened as he stepped closer. “Maa, main Anaya ke saath jo bhi karoon, wo meri marzi hai. Lekin aapko uske saath aisa karne ka koi haq nahi. Aaj ke baad agar usko takleef dene ka socha bhi na, toh usse pehle 100 baar soch lena, aur haan rahi nitya ki bad woh meri kabhi pasand thi hi nahi woh app logo ki zabardasti thi
” he warned, his voice low and filled with menace.Shalini’s smirk faded, her confidence shaken by his tone. She watched, stunned, as he turned and left the room without a backward glance.

Returning to his room, Abhimaan's heart felt heavier than ever. He looked at Anaya, who was still fast asleep, her face peaceful and unmarred by the pain she endured. Sighing, he settled beside her, exhaustion taking over. He put a hair strand behind her face and said " Mera koi irrada nahi hain tumhe dhukh phunchane ka , tum bas ek zariya ho ki jisde main tumhare baap ko dukh pahunchunga aur tumhe ye sab sehna parega " He hadn’t planned for things to turn out this way, and a strange protectiveness stirred in his heart as he drifted into a restless sleep.
---
The next morning, Anaya stirred, slowly opening her eyes. She blinked in surprise as she noticed the careful bandage on her foot, the pain now dulled. A sense of relief washed over her, though confusion lingered.
Her gaze drifted to the empty side of the bed. Where is Abhimaan? she wondered, still piecing together the events of the previous night. As she continued to think, the bathroom door opened, and Abhimaan emerged, his gaze briefly meeting hers.
Abhimaan: “Get ready,” he said without any hint of emotion. “Aaj se tum mere saath office jaogi, aur har din mere saath kaam karogi.”
Anaya stared at him, perplexed. “Kyun?” she asked. “Mujhe toh sirf dance aata hai. Office mein kaam karne ka toh koi tajurba bhi nahi hai.”
He smirked, though his gaze remained intense. “Tum meri assistant ki job karogi. Yeh tumhare liye kaafi hai.”
A new sense of unease washed over her as she hesitated. “Lekin... mujhe toh ghar par rehna hai,” she replied quietly, reluctant to leave the safety of the familiar, even if it was filled with strife.
Abhimaan’s patience wore thin. His eyes darkened, his voice cold and firm. “Mujhe apne baat dohraani pasand nahi. Tumhe 15 minute hain. Jaldi tayaar ho jao. Neeche tumhara intezaar kar raha hoon.” He fixed her with a hard gaze, leaving no room for argument.
Scared by his commanding tone, Anaya gave a slight nod before retreating into the bathroom, her heart pounding. As he watched her disappear behind the door, Abhimaan shook his head, a smirk playing on his lips. “Pagal ladki,” he muttered under his breath.
---
Within minutes, Anaya emerged from the bathroom, dressed modestly yet elegantly, her expressions filled with a mixture of confusion and apprehension. Abhimaan merely nodded in approval as they left together, heading for the car. The journey was silent, with Anaya lost in her thoughts, trying to piece together why he suddenly wanted her at his side.
They reached the office, a towering structure that radiated power and authority. Abhimaan led her through the grand entrance, all eyes turning to look at the unfamiliar woman by his side.
Abhimaan: “Tum yahan meri assistant ho. Tumhara kaam sirf itna hai ke jo bhi kaam tumhe diya jaye, woh tum poori zimmedaari se karo.” His tone left no room for argument, his gaze unwavering as he spoke.
Anaya nodded, still slightly intimidated by his demeanor. She followed him to his office, where he handed her a stack of papers.
Abhimaan: “Yeh file dekho, aur jo notes likhe hain, unhe padh lo. Aaj se tumhe yeh sab samajhne ki zaroorat hai.”
As she sat at the small desk beside his, focusing on her tasks, Abhimaan occasionally glanced her way, noting her quiet determination. Though reluctant, Anaya gave her best effort, realizing there was no escaping her newfound responsibilities. At the same time, he kept himself busy, silently plotting the downfall of his father’s empire, intending to bring justice in his own way.
Hours passed, and as the day drew to a close, Abhimaan stood up, signaling for her to do the same.
Abhimaan: “Aaj ke liye itna kaafi hai. Chalo, ghar chalte hain.”
The ride home was once again quiet, with Abhimaan lost in his own thoughts. Anaya, meanwhile, felt a strange sense of accomplishment, however small. She thought why was he all doing this ? He is not taking nay revenge by this what his intentions ? She realized that though her situation was less than ideal, she was beginning to learn, to adapt, and perhaps even grow.
As they arrived home, Anaya watched him silently, a mixture of gratitude and curiosity filling her heart. Her relationship with him was far from perfect, riddled with bitterness and misunderstandings. But deep down, a faint hope lingered, that perhaps things would one day be different.
