Chapter 10 - Golden Darkness

Lala and Zastin sat together in the living room, and Zastin handed her an envelope.

Zastin: Lala-sama, here is... this month's allowance.

Lala: Yay!

Zastin: Make sure you don't waste it.

Lala: Okay!

Just then, Mikan walked into the room carrying a tray with three cups of tea.

Mikan: Here.

Zastin: I'm most grateful.

The three sipped their tea in comfortable silence.

Zastin: By the way, I haven't seen Rito-dono or Ryuto-dono around.

Mikan: Rito's upstairs in his room, and Ryuto went out to do some shopping for me.

Zastin: I see.

Mikan: Oh no! There was more I needed him to pick up!

Lala: I'll go for you!

Zastin: No, no, Lala-sama, this is something--

Lala: I've got things I want to buy, so...

Zastin: By any chance, you're not planning to waste your money again, right?

Lala: What do you mean "again"?!

Zastin pointed to the nearby table, which held an assortment of random items.

Lala: It's different this time!

Zastin: Is that true?

Lala: You're too persistent!

Mikan: So, which one of you is going?

Meanwhile...

Ryuto had just stepped out of the store, carrying a couple of bags, when he heard a familiar voice call out to him.

He turned around to see Haruna approaching with a friendly smile.

Haruna: Ryuto-kun?

Ryuto: Oh, hey, Haruna-chan.

Haruna: Are you out shopping?

Ryuto: Yeah, Mikan asked me to grab a few things. And you?

Haruna: I'm shopping too... Just picking up a few things here. Well then, I'll get going.

Ryuto: Sure, see ya.

He started to turn away, but Haruna called after him.

Haruna: Um...

Ryuto: Hmm? Did you need something?

Haruna: *blushing slightly* If it's not too much trouble... do you think you could help me with my shopping? Some of these bags are kind of heavy...

Ryuto: Of course. I've got a little extra time.

Ryuto and Haruna walked back into the store together, taking their time as they strolled through the aisles. At one shelf, Haruna stopped, picking up a small, decorated cup.

Haruna: This is so cute.

Ryuto looked at her for a moment, watching her examine the cup with a bright, contented expression. Her enthusiasm was infectious, and he couldn't help but smile to himself.

Ryuto: *thinking* You know, I never really thought about it before, but... Haruna-chan really is pretty cute.

Ryuto: Yep, it's cute.
