Jasmin was still reeling from her encounter with Vikram when her father called her into his study. Raj Malhotra, powerful and respected, was known for keeping his emotions hidden, but tonight there was a hint of something she hadn’t seen before—a mix of tension and excitement.

“Beta, I have something important to discuss,” he began, his voice calm yet firm.

Jasmin frowned, sensing the gravity of the situation. “What is it, Papa?”

Raj hesitated for a moment before he spoke, “I’ve been thinking about our family’s future and the alliances we need to secure our place. And… I’ve decided that we will be forming an alliance with the Choudhary family.”

Jasmin froze, feeling her pulse quicken. The Choudhary family? The same Choudhary family that Vikram belonged to? Her mind raced, and dread pooled in her stomach.

Raj continued, “This alliance will strengthen our business, give us stability. And Vikram… he has agreed to it on one condition.”

Jasmin’s heart pounded in her chest, a feeling of unease washing over her. “What condition?”

Raj’s expression softened as he looked at her, almost apologetic. “He wants to marry you, Jasmin.”

The words hit her like a punch. Marry… Vikram? The man she despised, the man she blamed for Neha’s death? She felt a surge of anger and disbelief. “Papa, you can’t be serious. You know who he is. You know what he’s done!”

Raj sighed, placing a reassuring hand on her shoulder. “Jasmin, I understand your concerns. But in our world, alliances are important. This marriage is not just about you or him; it’s about our families, our future. Think of the security it will bring to our name, to us.”

“Security?” she asked, her voice shaking with anger. “How can I marry a man like him? After everything that’s happened—Neha’s death, his involvement—how can you expect me to just accept this?”

Raj’s face grew stern, his tone taking on a note of finality. “You are my daughter, and I expect you to understand the responsibilities that come with that. Sometimes we must make sacrifices for the greater good. And this marriage… it’s a sacrifice you’ll have to make.” Raj said in a raised voice.

Jasmin felt trapped, her anger mixing with a sense of helplessness. She wanted to fight back, to refuse, but the weight of her father’s words, his expectations, held her back. She could see he was not going to change his mind.

Raj softened again, seeing her pain. “Jasmin, just give it a chance. You don’t have to love him. This isn’t about emotions—it’s about duty.”

Duty. Sacrifice. Words that felt like chains, binding her against her will. Jasmin closed her eyes, taking a deep breath, trying to steady herself. She couldn’t let Vikram win, couldn’t let him get under her skin. If this was what she had to do, she would, but she swore to herself one thing—she would never let him break her.

After a long, tense silence, she looked at her father, her voice firm. “Fine. I’ll marry him. But I’ll never love him. And I’ll never forgive him for what he did.”

Raj nodded, relief evident in his expression. “That’s all I ask.”

That night, as Jasmin lay in bed, she thought about the life that awaited her. A life bound to a man she despised. She didn’t know what Vikram’s true intentions were, why he wanted to marry her, but she swore she would never fall into his trap. She would keep her guard up, her heart protected, and she would find out the truth about Neha’s death—even if it meant living under the same roof as Vikram Choudhary.

This was not a marriage of love , it was a deal with the devil. And Jasmin was determined to come out of it unscathed.
