Experion's Return (Chaz)

Lol, so um... Experion is barely in this. But he is the catalyst for everything.

Warnings for bad writing (I'm used to writing in first person), slightly stronger than canon typical violence (only for a few short paragraphs) and vaguely described panic attacks.

Yes, this is ignoring Reese. Just imagine Chase thinking that his relationship with Sebastian is more equitable to Kaz's with Experion.

The TV makes a hissing noise before turning over to superhero news. Oliver and Skylar sit forward giving the TV their full attention. Kaz looks up from his phone to see the broadcast.

"This just in, as things return somewhat to normal in the superhero world, ex-superhero turned supervillain Experion has escaped the newly rebuilt Mighty Max prison and his location is unknown." The newscaster says seriously. "In other news, Mighty Max prison has been rebuilt and most of the villains have been returned to where they belong."

Kaz stiffens. 'Oh no!' He takes a deep breath and tries to ignore his feelings. "Skylar, are you okay?"

She looks over at him worried before nodding. "I'm fine. He won't be out for long." She seems a little shaken but overall fine. Oliver puts his arm around her to comfort her and she smiles.

Kaz is not fine inside but he can't show that to anyone. 'No one can know what Experion was to me. Even if it was only for a few days, it's embarrassing.'

He stands up and points to the hyperlift. "Hey, I'm gonna go tell Chase. You know just to warn him." He says awkwardly.

Oliver and Skylar look at each other and shrug letting him do so.

He gets on the hyperlift but the moment he's down a mission control, he looks at Chase before running away and hiding in his junk room. He hides behind a big stack of boxes and starts to have a panic attack, knees to his face, gripping the fabric of his shirt and pants, and crying.

Chase comes in and sees the mess of Kaz. He sits down silently, wanting to wait until Kaz reacts but he doesn't. So Chase says his name softly. "Kaz?"

Kaz looks up and wipes his tears quickly. Acting like he wasn't just crying. "Oh hey."

Chase looks at him with a gentle look. 'are you ok?' He wants to ask but he decides to go with "Is everything okay?"

Kaz takes a deep breath, he's used to being the one fine in these situations, so he can fake it. "A villain escaped. Experion, he used to be Skylar's friend from her planet. He betrayed her saying he would take her back to her home and get her powers back but he was actually working with the Annihilator to kidnap her so she wouldn't." Chase nods at the information. "You should check on her." Kaz adds quickly. He wants to be alone, he's on the verge of cracking, and he's starting to shake again.

Chase doesn't say anything, only looking away from Kaz for a brief moment to text Bree. He's sure Oliver is already with Skylar and if not Bree would get him. Chase would go comfort her too but they're not that close and Kaz seems to be in obvious need of comforting too.

When Chase looks up he sees Kaz watching him waiting. "A-aren't you going to go?" Kaz asks his voice wobblier than he'd prefer.

Chase simply shakes his head. "Bree's on it."

Kaz tries his best to keep his breathing steady, he blinks away the tears starting to form as his walls crack. "You can leave then." He says trying not to sound rude but he can't hold it much longer.

"I don't want to leave you like this. Obviously, you are affected by this Experion escaping too. So I'm gonna stay with you." Chase says softly. It comforting, but unfortunately, it makes Kaz's walls crumble to the floor.
