CHAPTER FIVE

POV: JACKSON

What just happened?

No no no, this can't be real. This ought to be a mistake. That scent, like vanilla, smelled so good.

JJ had been so antsy when we got closer to the place but he couldn't tell what was wrong. I had thought it was a rogue who masked thier scent or something like that but it was what I didn't expect.

Mate, mate, mate. Jj said jumping and wagging his tail. I couldn't stop staring. I couldn't tell if it was because of shock or those black eyes. I just couldn't be there anymore and told Chris something urgent came up. I could tell he was very confused.

No. I can't accept this. I was contented, I was fine, I didn't want a new mate. I don't need a mate. I don't want anyone to replace Anto. Is this some kind of trick? Is the moon goddess playing a trick on me? Maybe it was just a mistake.

I was back in my office. I had been so deep in thought that the faces of my pack greeting me along the road was blur.

This was so sudden, why do I get another mate when I don't need one? But I can't reject him though, the consequences of that actions is too brutal. I can't do that to my son, my wolf or my pack.

Him. A boy. My new mate is a boy. I'm I gay? But I've never found any guy sexually attractive in my life. Hell, after Anto I didn't find ANYONE sexually attractive. I mean, don't get me wrong, I'm not against that but this has to be a mistake.

"We can't reject him. Don't reject him. You know what will happen if you do"

"You dont think I know that? But I can't fully accept him JJ, what about Anto and bay(anto's wolf)?

Jj was silent. After a while, "do whatever you want to do but don't reject him"  he blocked me out.

I sighed. This wasn't how I planned my Monday. I was still in thought when Chris came in.

"Hey man, are you okay? You rushed out of there so quickly. You were supposed to welcome them" Chris said, confusion written on his face.

Should I tell him? What if it's a mistake and I didn't have another mate? It will all just be for nothing. When I'm sure I'll tell him.

"It's nothing, something important came up"

"Are you sure?" doubt was evident in his tone.

"Yeah don't worry about it" I said and  attempted to get busy to stop any further questions.

"Okay, if you say so. Someone wants to see you. Saint, the boy I told you was the reason I got delayed."Chris said taking his seat.

From the way JJ perked up I knew that boy was my supposed mate's name. "Why is he here?" I asked with a little bit of panic in my voice.

Chris caught that. "He said he wants to ask you some questions, that it's urgent. Seriously though, are you okay? You've never reacted like this before" he said with concern.

I didn't answer to his question. " Where is he now?" I asked

"Downstairs. I told him to wait outside incase you didn't want to speak to him." He said.

Should I speak to him? I need to clear this whole thing up.

It's fine, I'll talk to him. Wait here, I'll be back" I said walking out.

I really hope this whole thing was a mistake. I don't want a n-... It hit me again, vanilla. I opened the door and I saw him. He stood, leaning on the walls outside. As soon I came out, he whipped his head so fast, it would be funny if only it didn't confirm what I honestly wished will be a mistake.

I have a new mate.

He cleared his throat. "Uhm, I-, you're my-, we should-, I-" he stopped talking, rubbing his ears.

Hi voice sounds so soft. I could listen to him talk all day. Looking at him closely, he was shorter than me. He has short black hair and deep set black eyes. His lips were pink and full.

He started again. "I-I'm Saint, uhm I came with the beta from another pack. I want-" I cut him off.

"We can't talk here. We'll talk at my house. I'll send someone to pick you up later." I said and turned back, walking inside the building. Then I paused, "Don't tell anyone about this whole mate stuff" I said and walked inside.

The last thing I want is the pack knowing about this when I haven't thought of a way to go about this.

I entered my office to see Chris going through some files. I sat in my chair then he looked up before looking back at the files. "That was quick, talked to him?" he asked.

"Yeah, we've talked" I replied.

"Are you going to tell me what's wrong now?" I knew he wasn't convinced with my previous answer.

I sighed. "I've got a new mate" I said leaning back at the chair.

"Excuse me, what?" he asked surprised. Yeah, me too.

"You heard that right. The moon goddess decided to give me a new mate"I said sitting up and putting my elbows on the table.

"Are you sure?"

"Yeah, I just confirmed" I said and sighed again.

Realization dawned on him. "Saint? Saint is your mate?" He asked still surprised. I nodded.

"Wow. I don't know what's more surprising, a new mate or a new mate that's a guy." he said leaning back in the chair.

"Imagine what I'm going through. I'm still shocked"

"Well, this is not a bad thing right? You're not homophobic, you can try."

"That's not the problem Chris. I don't need a new mate. I'm okay with my son and I." I said with a frown.

He looked at me intently before asking, "Is this about Anto?"

"Yes it is. I don't want to replace her, Chris. She was my first and should be my only mate" I said. The frown still present on my face.

"Jackson you're not replacing her. Anto can still be in your heart even with a new mate" he said softly.

I didn't believe him. "I don't know Chris, I'm not even gay. I don't want this"

"Are you going to reject him?" Chris asked.

"You know I can't. It's too risky and dangerous" I told him.

It was quiet for a while before he spoke again, "Why don't you give it a try. At least be friends with him."

"I guess so. I told him we should talk later at my house" I said.

"That's good. I have to go, the warriors need me for something." He stood up. He walked to the door before stopping. "I hope you give yourself another chance at love Jackson." He walked away.

Chance at love? I love Anto, I don't want to love anyone else.

I need to speak to him about it. I just hoped he complies.
