Nehal Wadhera x Reader

Summary: Nehal becomes hilariously jealous when he misinterprets the mention of 'Anupam' as a person, thinking it's someone she's "involved" with. As he grows more frustrated and protective, she teases him by playing along with the misunderstanding, all while trying to hold back laughter.

To clarify- Anupam is a craft store.

We were halfway through lunch when he casually looked up from his phone, his warm brown eyes flashing with the faintest spark of interest as he asked, "So, what are you doing after this?"

I put my phone down, feeling a bit embarrassed at how quickly I'd finished my food, and tried to seem nonchalant as I gathered my things. "Oh, nothing much," I replied, "I'm heading to Anupam's."

At my words, Nehal's easy, lounging posture went tense. He set his phone down slowly, tilting his head and studying me intently.

"Say that again for me," he said, his voice steady but with that unmistakable edge.

Confused but smiling, I repeated, "I'm heading to Anupam's."

"And who," he demanded, the corners of his mouth tightening, "the fuck is Anupam?"

Wait, what? For a split second, I genuinely couldn't understand why he was so worked up. His intense expression, the slight clench in his jaw, the way he was leaning forward now as if ready to leap across the table—all of it left me totally bewildered. Then, like a slow tide rolling in, realization dawned on me.

Oh. He thinks Anupam is a person.

The thought crept over me, warm and exhilarating, as I pieced together his obvious tension and the protective glint in his eyes. Nehal Wadhera, celebrity cricketer, Instagram heartthrob, and currently my favourite lunch companion, was actually jealous of some imaginary guy named Anupam.

I had to work hard not to burst out laughing right then and there. It wasn't like I'd intentionally misled him; he'd just... jumped to a conclusion. And somehow, the fact that he was all worked up about it made my stomach flip in ways I wasn't quite ready to admit.

Still, the idea of a jealous Nehal was just too delicious to resist. So, instead of correcting him, I put on my best casual expression and said, "Oh, you know... just a place I go every once in a while." I kept my voice light, praying he wouldn't notice the way my lips trembled with the effort to hold back a grin.

He leaned back slightly, looking both annoyed and... genuinely bothered. His eyes narrowed, assessing me as if I'd suddenly sprouted a second head. He seemed to be struggling with something—probably an urge to strangle this "Anupam" person he'd invented in his head.
