When do we really go after we die? That question is still an unanswered question up until now. Well, for one, we can't really know for sure until the moment we die. Obviously, we can't acquire reliable evidence for that while we're still living. When we die, we don't have any means to communicate with the land of living. Although, as we know now, there are lots and lots of religions and ideologies to express our own interpretations of the afterlife.
Death is something mortals cannot and will never escape. It's the cycle of life. So, there's no particular reason to be afraid of it. What makes us afraid of death is the life after it. Where do we really go? Is death really the end of us after everything?
However, for a clairvoyant like Brett, he never feared death after what he have seen. But he was sure that he wouldn't wanna roam around the Earth for eternity like the spirits he was used to seeing. For someone that sees death every single day, he's already used to it. He used to believe this sight given to him was a punishment but sometimes, when it saves him from danger, he feels as if it's a gift.
That said, he'd like to put this gift to good use especially for the people important to him.
"Oh come on, it'll be fun!" The other dragged him towards the haunted house attraction that just opened recently in their town. They were on their way to the church when they spotted the opening.
"Whew, hold on. We really should go to the church now, Eddy," Brett sternly replied.
Eddy sighed, "It won't be for long plus this is our hangout day anyway, unless you've scheduled a time then we can get to that later, after this."
It's not like Brett could just blurt out that he can see a snake-like creature with a bunch of hands for its body wrapped around Eddy's shoulder. He shouldn't react, that alert the monster. It was breathing too and wrapped too tightly around him, he could visibly see Eddy's aura being sucked by this creature.
"We have to go, Eddy, on our way home, I promise, we can go back to this," Brett tried to convince him.
Eddy held his forehead, "Oh."
"Are you okay?" Brett asked. "What's wrong?"
"I feel tired all of a sudden, should we eat first?" Brett held onto Eddy's shoulder for support while they go find the nearest restaurant to dine in.
When they were both seated, they finally ordered and Brett took charge of Eddy's order since he needed to supply his energy. That creature was feeding off of him and it's making him sick. Eddy didn't mind, he was actually glad that Brett was caring for him and that he didn't have to think!
"Why did you want to go to the haunted house, anyway? You can't even watch a horror film let alone live the horror film," Brett scoffed.
"But you like horror stuff, don't you? I thought you'd be eager to go because of that."
"There's no need, Eddy, if you'll only be clutching onto me like a leech."
Eddy faked getting offended by that, "That's so mean! You won't protect me from the monsters !?"
'That's what I am trying to do right now but you're being incredibly stubborn', Brett rolled his eyes. He observed the monster latching onto Eddy, it moved around his waist area, it was still breathing heavily.
"Damnit."
"What was that?"
"Oh nothing. Look, that's our food."
After eating, Eddy restored a little bit of aura that he had but it wasn't enough, he was still feeling a bit off and Brett needed to save him. They caught the train to the church and head inside. There weren't anyone there since there was no mass currently but Brett wanted to talk to the priest himself to ask for advice about the situation.
