Taehyung stood frozen at the doorway, his hand gripping the frame as he listened, his calm expression betraying emotion. He paused, his expression unreadable as he listened to the heated exchange between Jungkook and her mother. The sound of her voice carried down the corridor, cutting through the silence of the manor like a razor blade.

He stood, hidden in the shadows, watching and listening as Jungkook told her mother to leave.

When the door finally clicked shut, and he saw Kara walk away, shoulders slumped, eyes red and cheeks wet with tears, Taehyung stepped into the open, moving into view.

Taehyung's heart stopped in his chest as the pieces clicked into place.

The world slow around him as the realization hit him like a sudden storm. His breath caught in his throat, and he felt an invisible weight settle over his shoulders as if the air had thickened around him.

Jungkook was that baby.

The one his father had left behind.

His step faltered and he had to grasp the doorframe for support, his knuckles turning white as he leaned against it. His mind raced, the connection between his past and present crashing together like an unstoppable force.

For a moment, Taehyung couldn't find his voice. His entire body felt numb.

The walls closed in around him as he struggled to breathe, his mind spinning. Taehyung finally pushed himself off the doorframe, stepping away with heavy steps. He felt lost, unable to comprehend the depth of the situation.

This wasn't just a revelation about their past, it was a revelation about the very foundation of their relationship.

He couldn't bear the thought of it.

The shame, the guilt.

Taehyung's legs moved on autopilot, carrying him through the house, away from Jungkook's presence. He needed space to breathe, to make sense of everything that had just been revealed. His heart pounded in his chest, the realization still settling like a heavy fog in his mind.

He stumbled into his study, the room dimly lit by the late afternoon sun filtering through the blinds. It was quiet, the only sound the soft click of the door as he closed it behind him. Taehyung stood there for a moment, staring blankly at the desk before him.

The truth hit him in waves. His father had left her—the baby by the riverside. His mind's eye flashed back to his childhood, to the vague memories of the woman he had seen from a distance.

Taehyung sank into the chair behind his desk, running a hand through his hair in frustration. The words that had come from Jungkook echoed in his ears like a haunting refrain, each syllable hitting him harder than the last.
