The Fall into the Unknown

"This way, Sweetie."

The farmer always walked her into the large barn, where a few of her barn mates were already waiting. She was the only one with a pretty silver cowbell and a bow tied at the end of her tail. For Sweetie, this barn was the winner's circle. A three-time champion show cow, only the best of the best were allowed to stay here.

She mooed at the farmer as if he could understand the language of her heart. She wasn't just mooing-she was trying to communicate her affection for him. He treated her better than the others, with kindness and care.

She moved toward the wall, her eyes scanning the photographs of all the cows who had stayed in this barn before her. She wondered if one day, her picture would hang there too. I'll be just like them, she thought, imagining her face in the frame, surrounded by the others who had earned their place in the show ring.

The next morning, the farmer let her out for her usual stroll. It was a routine she knew well, but today something felt different about him. He led her to the grassy patch where the grass was always greener. Showtime grass, she thought, recognizing the signal. It meant one thing: the fair was coming up.

"Well, if I've been given permission, I might as well enjoy it..." she thought as she began to graze, savoring the sweet, lush grass beneath her hooves. The temptation was irresistible, and despite the farmer's usual warning to stay away from the riverbank, Sweetie found herself edging closer and closer to the water.

The ground near the riverbank was softer, and as she grazed, she didn't notice the change in the earth beneath her hooves. The soft mud gave way without warning, and Sweetie slipped into the river.

"Sweetie!" the farmer shouted, but it was too late. Her hoof caught the edge of the bank, and with a startled moo, she tumbled into the rushing water.

She disappeared beneath the surface, swept away by the current.

When Sweetie finally regained consciousness, she opened her eyes slowly. The water was gone, replaced by a vast, grassy plain stretching out before her. She tried to stand, but her legs buckled beneath her, and she collapsed onto her side. Confused and disoriented, she blinked up at the sky. Where am I? she wondered.

Then, something strange happened.

"System opening..."

A translucent blue screen flickered into existence in front of her, hovering in midair. Sweetie watched it with wide eyes, the strange glow casting an eerie light across the soft grass at her hooves. Her ears flicked nervously, and her tail swished uneasily. The screen pulsed once, then the familiar, smooth voice filled her mind.

"Updating transfer... System Sweetie Farms updated. Welcome to your new life, Sweetie!"

New life? Sweetie blinked, her gaze darting around. There was no sign of the farmer, no barnmates, no familiar pastures. The world around her was wide open-vast fields stretching in all directions, with soft golden light spilling from the lavender sky above. The air was thick with silence. She could hear nothing except the rustling of tall grass brushing against her hooves.

Her heart fluttered. Where am I? She tried to shake off the unease that settled in her chest, but it was hard. The last thing she remembered was the river, the soft bank beneath her hooves giving way, and then... nothing. Now, she was here, in this unfamiliar world. Alone.

The screen blinked again, and the voice spoke once more:

New Life Update: Task Assigned.

Task? Sweetie stared at the screen, hoping for some clarity. The words shimmered as they appeared:

Objective 1: Explore your surroundings.
