When she said, "Anything," I couldn't help but think, How can someone be so innocent and yet such a feisty cat at the same time?
I looked at her and said, "If you're willing to do anything for my forgiveness, then I want you to be my personal assistant."
She looked shocked beyond words, and I watched as the color drained from her face. Stuttering, she asked, "Why do you need a PA? Are you... not going back?"
Her question stunned me—how could she ask this, and in my own company, no less? But she's my Jaan, my feisty one; she can ask whatever she wants.
Still, I couldn't resist teasing her. "Do you want me to leave, Jaan? Because I'm here for you." I paused, watching her reaction. "I mean, I'm here to stay from now on."
Her eyes widened even more as my words sank in, and for a moment, she seemed at a loss for what to say. But then, true to her fiery self, she pulled herself together and shot back, "Why would I care if you stay or go? You're the boss—you can do whatever you want." Her tone was defensive, but I could see through her.
I leaned back in my chair, watching her closely. "True, I can. And what I want...is you as my assistant. I think it will be good for us both." I could see her trying to process what that meant—working directly under me, seeing me every day.
"But I'm not qualified to be a PA," she argued, looking for a way out. "I don't even know what a CEO does on a daily basis."
I smirked. "Don't worry; I'll teach you everything you need to know." I leaned in closer, adding, "I'll make sure you never feel out of place here, Jaan."
She looked away, biting her lip, clearly wrestling with her thoughts. I could tell she wanted to protest but couldn't find a reason that would make sense. After a few moments, she finally sighed, defeated.
"Fine," she said reluctantly. "I'll take the position."
I couldn't hold back my grin. "Good choice," I replied. "Let's get started."
I leaned back, letting a smirk play on my face. "Oh, I didn't say it would be easy, did I? As part of your punishment, you'll be handling both your usual tasks and my work as a PA. So, what do you say? Are you ready for the challenge?"
She blinked, staring at me like I'd just suggested the most absurd idea in the world. "Wait...will you give me double salary for that?" she asked, crossing her arms with a hint of defiance.
I laughed, enjoying her spirit. "Not quite, Miss Himanshi. Think of it as a learning experience. You'll be working with me, not just for me. And trust me, that'll be worth more than a raise."
She rolled her eyes but reluctantly nodded, though I could tell she was already plotting her revenge. "Fine, but if you think I'm going to go easy on you, you've got another thing coming."
