Becky was shocked when she learned that Heavens Club had been shut down. Saint had told her that before they could even submit their proof to the police, someone else had already done it. But he didn't know who.
Becky had only two suspects in mind.
"Heng and Seng." They were the only people besides her group who were actively working against Wichai's illegal operations.
Determined to find out more, Becky decided to speak with Seng. He knew so much about his father's dealings, and they could help each other. They all had the same goal. That's how she ended up sitting with him on the football field, the quiet atmosphere heavy with tension.
"I-I was happy with him," Seng began, a sad smile on his face. His eyes shimmered with unshed tears.
"B-but Dad was always against him. He kept telling me to get a girlfriend, that people finding out his son was gay would ruin his reputation."
Becky remained silent, unsure of how to comfort him. She wasn't used to comforting anyone other than Freen, and even then, she just followed her heart. Right now, her mind was blank.
"One day, I got home early, but he wasn't there. I waited for hours, but he never showed up. I called him several times, but he didn't answer. I got worried and decided to check his office," Seng continued.
"I reached the office around 11:34 p.m., but the security guard told me he had left at 8 p.m. I panicked. I called everyone who knew him, but they all said the same thing-they hadn't seen him or didn't know where he was."
Seng paused, his hands trembling slightly. "Then, suddenly, I got a call from an unknown number. I immediately answered it, and it was..." Seng choked on his words.
Becky instinctively rubbed his back. "You can stop, Seng," she said softly.
He shook his head. "N-no, I need to tell you."
Seng's voice trembled as he continued. "It was a call from the police station. They told me... t-that he had been in an accident and... h-he d-died on the s-spot. The injuries were too severe."
Seng sobbed, and Becky clenched her fists, trying to stay composed.
"I-I went to the hospital to see him, and... i-it was horrible, Becky. Seeing your l-lover like that... it hurts so much." His voice cracked.
"After his death, I felt like I lost my soul. I stayed at our apartment, surrounded by memories of him and me," Seng said, forcing a sad smile.
"I was suspicious about the accident. Then one day, Heng came to see me. He's like a brother to me; we've always been close. That's when I decided to investigate the accident, and Heng helped me."
"What did you find out?" Becky asked gently.
"We discovered that the truck involved in the crash belonged to my father's company. I recognized the license plate-our company trucks always have a 'W' on them."
Seng clenched his fists. "That's how I knew it was my father. From that day, Heng and I started gathering evidence against his illegal business. I was disgusted by what we found."
He looked down, his voice filled with bitterness. "I'm ashamed to be his son."
Seng hesitated before continuing. "Recently, I discovered a hidden basement in our house. I'd never seen it before, and curiosity got the better of me. What I found there left me stunned."
Becky leaned forward, her brow furrowed. "What did you see?" she asked.
Seng's voice was tense. "There was a man chained up with iron ropes. When I got closer, I couldn't believe my eyes. It was Freen's father, Becky. He was being held in my own house."
Becky's eyes widened in shock. "After all this time..."
"I helped him escape, but my father's men spotted us. I distracted them long enough for him to get away. He ran toward the road, and that's when I saw your car."
Becky's jaw dropped. "You saw me?"
Seng nodded. "Yeah, and that's when I knew he was in good hands."
Seng sighed deeply. "Freen has suffered so much, Becky. She was a little ray of sunshine when we were kids, but after her father disappeared, she changed. She became cold and distant, even with her closest friends. Nam and I tried so hard to reach her, but she kept pushing us away."
He chuckled suddenly. "You know, I had a crush on you once."
Becky's eyes widened. "WHAT?"
Seng laughed softly. "Yeah, but when I saw Freen with you, smiling like she used to, I gave up before I even tried. You brought back the Freen we all missed. The one who lost her smile, her hope in love... and for that, I'm so grateful to you, Becky."
Becky smiled, feeling a sense of pride. "I worked hard for that," she admitted. "Do you know how many times I got punished just to get her attention?"
Seng chuckled. "Well, the hard work paid off, didn't it?"
Becky nodded, grinning. They continued talking for a while, exchanging stories and thoughts. Neither of them noticed a shadowy figure watching them from a distance.
.......
"So, you're not jealous?" Nam asked in a teasing tone, a smirk playing on her lips.
Freen shot her a glare. "I am not jealous," she replied firmly.
Nam nodded, the smirk never leaving her face. "Right. Got it."
Freen rolled her eyes but continued, "Becky is probably just talking to him about his father."
Nam nodded again. She already knew everything that had happened over the past few days, having been filled in by Freen. She had been shocked to learn about Wichai's crimes and Freen's father's ordeal.
"I never thought his father was that kind of person," Nam said, shaking her head.
"Well, sometimes people show a fake side, Nam. They hide who they really are," Freen said bitterly.
Nam sighed. "Yeah, I can't even imagine what Uncle went through."
Suddenly, Freen's voice rose sharply. "WHY THE FUCK ARE THEY HUGGING?!"
Nam jumped from her seat, startled. "What the hell, Freen?!" she exclaimed.
Freen pointed toward the window. "Why the hell is Seng touching my property?" she demanded, her voice dripping with irritation. " My property huh? " Nam thought.
Nam walked over to the window and looked out. Becky and Seng were laughing together on the football field, clearly enjoying each other's company. It had been two hours since they'd started talking.
"Freen, relax. They're just acting like friends-just friends," Nam said calmly. She glanced at Freen before adding, "Don't you trust Becky?"
Freen immediately turned to her, her eyes serious. "I trust her more than I trust myself, but I don't trust Seng. He had a crush on her," she admitted, her gaze shifting back to the window.
Nam groaned softly. "Oh my god, this jealousy thing..." she murmured under her breath.
