It's embarrassing, really. I felt like a fool falling so head over heels for a guy I met at some party while slurring over my words and stepping over my feet like an absolute idiot when he looked at me with such admiration. Even after that party and when he'd given me his number, I sat by my phone, hopelessly waiting. Now, our moments together were never fleeting: they lingered in the back of my soul like nothing else, plaguing my being and thoughts. The sound of his laughter, the gleam of his smile, the taste of his skin, the smothering sensation of his lips against mine, the way his hands found home on my hips—I was stupidly smitten; enamored with this man that brought me nothing but pleasure and happiness.

Me and Micheal have been in a six month relationship that has consisted of nothing but ugly laughing, sloppy kisses, weekly dates, and cringey jokes. I had never been this happy in my life before. I couldn't imagine what it would be like if the light from my world suddenly went dark. But for now, I would let Micheal hold me in his arms and be content.

Me and Micheal had met at a high school party, drinking out of red solo cups filled with cheap booze, and it had been history ever since. We go to different colleges that are hours apart now. Being long distance was tough but, we managed to preserve until summer came around. During the summer, me and Micheal moved back to our home town to live with our parents. This routine would continue until we would save up enough for an apartment to move into... which my paycheck from the local market wasn't helping us much. That's beside the point, any way.

It was a humid summer night, two weeks into summer break and two weeks without seeing Micheal. The breeze coming in through my cracked window became more brisk as the sun dipped below the dawn and the moon took its place, full and bright. I restlessly lay in bed, staring up at the ceiling with my sheets in a disarray around me, it being too hot to use them. Sweat beaded on the nape of my neck and my back. My cheeks warmed with a flush due to the heat. I brushed my unruly hair out my face and rolled over in my bed with an annoyed huff, hoping to find a comfortable spot to close my eyes and find sleep.. which didn't seem to be happening. I let out a groan and scrub my hands down my face. My dead phone was charging, my family was asleep, and there was absolutely nothing to do. It was going to be a long night. Though, as I continued to lay motionless in bed by accepting my fact, I eventually found my eyelids beginning to get heavier.

I bring to drift off in my parching room. I focused on the rise and fall of my breath, relishing in the tranquility of the crickets outside chirping and the whirring of the cars passing by. Amid this peace I'd fought hard to find, I heard something that sounded like a pebble clank against my window. My eyes fluttered open and I inhaled slowly. I hoped it wasn't the neighbor boys who'd taken an odd liking to me or some creep trying to break in. I bit my lower lip as I slowly approaching my half-opened window and glanced around the backyard until I saw... Micheal, standing with his phone flashlight on and a few rocks in hand. My heart swelled in my chest at the sight of my boyfriend. My lips managed to curl into a grin despite my dreariness.

"Micheal?" I gingerly called out, leaning against the window cill as I tried to get a better view at the dark figure in my backyard that I was sure was Micheal. "Y/N?" Micheal's voice came from below and his flashlight tilted upwards towards my face, nearly blinding me to which I block the light with the back of my palm. "You weren't answering my texts!" Micheal yelled, his voice slightly hushed in order to not disturb the suburban neighborhood around us.

My heart thumped in my chest. I could only imagine the look on my parents face if they found out about Micheals late night visit. "So this is how you get my attention: by breaking my mind?" I asked, amused. "What'd you expect me to do? Send you a hand written letter by pigeon?" Micheal retorted. "Yes, actually," I said, grinning widely. "Chivalry would be appreciated." There was a small pause of silence before I heard Micheal chuckle which made my heart beat even faster. "Okay, smart ass," He laughed. "Get down here and I'll show you true chivalry!" My grin didn't ever. "Okay, okay!" I called back. "I expect a horse and roses!" I playfully added before scrambling to get on my shoes and down the stairs without getting caught by my parents. The adrenaline began to pump within me as I approached the door to my backyard and saw Micheal with his signature grin. We haven't seen each in two weeks, which wasn't the longest of times but I still missed him. How could I not?

I hastily slid open the glass sliding door and practically ran out to Micheal, laughing and smiling. My arms automatically slung around Micheal's neck as his wrapped around my waist, pulling me flush against him while our lips met for the first time in two weeks. A wave of bliss and satisfaction washed over me like a soothing balm to a sun burn after a few hours on the beach. I tasted his cherry chapstick, felt his heart thrumming against mine, and couldn't help but to hum against his lips. I melted in his embrace. Relief flooded my mind, clearing all my worrying thoughts as I indulged in Micheals sweetness. I would never get sick of Micheal and what we had.

Me and Micheal eventually found the strength to pull away. Micheal's eyes met mine, sparkling like the stars that dotted the sky above us. His cheeks were tinted with a rosy pink and his lips remain in an admiring smile as he drank me in. "You're amazing," Micheal murmured breathily, reaching out to tuck a strand of hair behind my ear. My cheeks set aflame with a flush as well. "Mhm," I giggled nervously, still feeling like that awkward and giddy teen girl Micheal once knew. "I could say the same about you." Micheal let out a laugh, the sound rumbling in his chest. He squeezed my waist and looked at me tenderly before speaking up once more, clearing his throat.

"How about we ditch this place and grab some food and catch up?" Micheal asked, his grin softening. "Yes, of course."
