Rhea's apartment was bathed in the quiet glow of the single lamp she'd left on in the living room. She had barely settled in for the night, her mind still replaying the way Keane had looked at her, that magnetic pull in his eyes that left her feeling exposed, wanting. She found herself brushing a hand through her hair, nerves and anticipation tangled as her thoughts lingered on him.

A soft, unexpected knock at her door jolted her from her thoughts. She hesitated, heartbeat hammering. No one came by unannounced this late—no one except him.

Rhea opened the door slowly, and there he was, standing in the dim light of her entryway, his dark eyes fixed on her. There was an edge to his gaze, something raw and unguarded. He didn't speak at first; he just looked at her, his eyes tracing her face, her lips, her collarbone, as though memorizing every detail.

"Keane?" Her voice was barely a whisper.

He stepped closer, just enough to let his hand reach out, his fingers brushing softly along the side of her jaw. "I couldn't leave," he said, his voice rough but soft, as though he, too, was struggling to keep something held back. "All night, I haven't stopped thinking about you."

Her skin prickled at his touch, warmth pooling in her stomach. He was so close, his presence overwhelming in the best way. His thumb grazed her cheek as he tilted her chin up, his dark eyes locked onto hers, each look more intense than the last.

"Keane..." she murmured, but her voice trailed off as he leaned down, close enough that she could feel his breath against her lips. Her hands found his chest, her fingers gripping the fabric of his shirt, grounding herself as the tension between them reached a fever pitch.

"I told myself I'd wait," he murmured, his voice a low rumble, "but you make it impossible." His hand moved to the small of her back, pulling her flush against him, and she could feel the heat radiating off him.

Without thinking, she rose onto her toes, closing the distance between them, her lips brushing against his. For a moment, he seemed to hesitate, as if savoring the moment before giving in. But then his restraint snapped, and he was kissing her deeply, his hand tangled in her hair, fingers pressing gently against her scalp. She gasped against his mouth, her hands sliding up to his shoulders, holding him close.

The kiss deepened, growing hungry, both of them moving in sync as if they'd been waiting for this moment forever. His hands roamed her back, his fingers skimming the thin fabric of her shirt, his touch igniting every nerve. She felt the cool press of the wall behind her as he guided her back, holding her there with a steady hand, his lips moving from her mouth to her jaw, trailing kisses down her neck.

Her breath hitched, eyes fluttering closed as she let herself melt into the sensation. Every inch of her skin felt alive under his touch, like he'd awakened something in her that had been dormant until now. His hands moved down to her waist, drawing her even closer, his breath hot against her neck.

When he finally pulled back, his forehead pressed against hers, his breathing ragged, he met her gaze with an intensity that made her knees weak. "I told myself you needed space," he murmured, his hand brushing her cheek tenderly, "but I can't pretend anymore. I don't want distance, Rhea. I want you."

Rhea's fingers tightened around his, and she felt her own resolve crumble. She looked up at him, her own voice unsteady but resolute. "Then don't hold back."

With that, he leaned in, capturing her mouth in another heated kiss, both of them letting go of everything they'd been holding back.
