Nora Winters sat on her bed, the glow of her phone illuminating her face in the dark. It was 2:14 a.m. She barely noticed the time—until she saw the message.

“Don’t let them find you. –I.”

Her heart raced. She tapped on the message, hoping to call Ivy immediately, but the screen went dark. A call? No answer. Another text? Nothing.

Nora jumped out of bed, her mind racing. Why was Ivy texting her like this? It didn’t make sense. They’d spoken earlier that night, and everything seemed fine. But this—this was something different.

The next morning, the school halls buzzed with hushed conversations. At first, Nora didn’t understand why. Then, her phone vibrated. Her heart sank when she read the message from Ivy’s mom.

“Ivy is missing. She hasn’t come home. Please, tell me if you know anything.”

Nora swallowed, her stomach turning. She was the last person to hear from Ivy, and now, she was gone.

“Have you heard about Ivy?” Chloe, a classmate, whispered as they walked past each other in the hallway.

“Yeah,” Nora muttered. “She’s missing.”

“No one knows where she went,” Chloe said, her voice tinged with curiosity. “Some people think she ran away, but I don't buy it.”

Nora’s mind raced. Could it have been a warning?

Nora pulled out her phone and stared at the message again. “Don’t let them find you.” Who was Ivy trying to protect her from? And why?
