Chapter 4

Harmony’s POV

I woke up drowsily and just laid in my bed. I leaned over to look at the clock. 11:15am. So happy its Friday and I get to sleep in. And the best part, it was my birthday. Kaiden said he was taking me out tonight. He said some place fancy so I had bought a new dress last night with Belle. She paid for it; it was my birthday present she said. I was extremely expensive though, but pretty much it was her parents who paid for it. I had never realized how rich my friends were. Belle’s parents owned their own business that was spread across Canada, Kaiden’s dad was one of the best lawyers in town and he was always on some sort of case, which he of course he would always win. Then Blaine’s family is just randomly rich, I don’t really understand, some family fortune or something. And then there’s my family… Both teachers and I have 2 younger brothers. Whereas Blaine and Belle are only children and Kaiden has an older brother who’s already graduated college. So I’m the poor one of my friends, which sucks, but on the plus side, my birthdays present were always huge. You know, like a fricking car.

After going back to sleep for another 2 hours, eating, taking a shower, eating again and watching the new episode of Big Brother, I started getting ready for our date. He said he was picking me up at 5:45 so I had about 2 hours to get ready before Kaiden was coming to pick me up. I started on my hair, loose ringlets and makeup, a smoky eye with peach lips and got into my dress. It was strapless, sweetheart neckline, and black with bead cinching just below my bust, and then flowed out to about my mid-thigh. I paired it with silver bow earrings, my Tiffany&Co charm bracelet and then I was done. I looked in the mirror, not fully content with how I looked, but good enough. 5:30pm. I got my clutch together and ran down stairs.

“Well don’t you look lovely?” my dad compliment as I entered the kitchen.

“Agreed! Date tonight?” my mom asked.

“Thanks! Yup, don’t know where but he’s picking me up in like 5 minutes. That okay?” I asked.

“Yeah that’s fine dear.”

“But be home by 11:00, okay?” my dad said, doing his usual dad thing…

“Yes dad, promise.” I said rolling my eyes. He always has to put a time limit on it, like he doesn’t trust me or something. Just then the doorbell rang.

“Wow Harmony. You look stunning.” Kaiden gaped at me when I opened the door for him.

“Thanks honey,” I blushed. “You don’t look too shabby either,” I replied winking at him and pushing him out the door. “Bye mom! Bye dad!” I shut the door behind us and pressed my lips against Kaiden’s.

“Excited for you birthday dinner?” Kaiden asked after we separated.

“Yes! Let’s go!” we get into his car and starting driving. Kaiden pulled into a parking lot for the restaurant ‘Madam Cavol’. It’s a local restaurant, extremely expensive. “Babe!”

“No big deal, it’s worth it for you.” He kisses me on the cheek. I don’t think I could ever love this boy any more than I do. Once we are seated and ordered our food we start some small talk. I love everything about him, that’s all I can think about. Our food is brought to our table and we begin eating.

“Don’t you find it annoying? Belle always seems to like hate us together.” Kaiden says a bit randomly.

“I’ve never really noticed, does she?” I say.

“No really, she always like glares when we kiss. It’s stupid.”

“Hmm… Weird.” I kind of try to divert from the conversation, Kaiden wasn’t making much sense and he was sounding a bit rude.

“I don’t get why you two are friends, Belle is so annoying.” Okay that one hurt.

“We’ve been best friends for 4 years? Long before I even met you.” I retorted.

“Calm down, wow.” Kaiden said. What was up with him? He was seriously pissing me off.

“Changing the subject.” I say, making it known I’m pissed off.

“Sorry, just had to say something about it. Anyways…” We finished out meals and had desert then Kaiden drove me home. It wasn’t horrible, we definitely had fun but what he said just kind of made me mad. I still love him don’t get me wrong, but I was noticing some offish things about him lately that were getting to me. I just brushed it off. He’s still the boy you love Harmony, don’t forget that. I threw off my high heels once I walked into the door, happy to finally rest my aching feet. I removed my dress and makeup and pulled on my soft pyjamas and crawled into bed. It took me awhile to fall asleep, I was just a bit confused about Kaiden but I seriously needed to just forget it.
