About 10 minutes into Sarah leaving I was already feeling bored, and decided to call Tobias over. I thought to myself, maybe we can talk since he was the one comforting me through all of this. I should tell Sarah. What if she comes home and he's here? Yeah, text her.
I pull my phone out from my pocket and unlock it with my very easy-to-guess password, 1111. I open her contact and text her saying, "I'm thinking of inviting Tobias to come over and talk with me, is that okay?". Less than 5 minutes later, I get a response. "Yeah, that's completely okay, just make sure that when you take something out, you put it back where you found it. And if you guys cook anything, make sure to clean up afterwards!" I smile as I read it just thinking that Sarah is going to be a great guardian to me. I react to the message with a heart and close her contact. I open Tobias's contact and ask if he wants to come over. Apparently, he has been waiting for me to text him, as he expected I wouldn't last a day without company. He says he will be right there.
About 24 minutes pass and I hear a knock on my door. I run to the door and when I stop, I slide a little bit because of how fast I was running to greet him. I quickly swing the door open and he greets me with a smile. "Hello Madame." He says gently.
"Welcome to my humble abode for the time being." I say back
"It's nice. It has a lovely view of the city."
The apartment is pretty small, but it feels larger because of how open it is. There is a loft that leads to my room. Sarah would have picked that room because of how cool it is. I mean, it's a loft. Who wouldn't want it? But she said she would have no privacy, and besides her room is a master suite, so she does not have to walk down the hall to access the bathroom.
"It is lovely, isn't it? I quite like it. It's also very modern. The cabinets are white, and the countertops are white!" He laughs at how excited I got over the counter tops, and he leads me through the apartment.
When we stop at the kitchen he almost gasps at how big and how much space there is. "You could fit a horse in between the sink and the island!"
Now I'm the one laughing. We laugh together, and at that point I had forgotten what it feels like to be genuinely happy.
We walk back into the living room, and climb up the steep stairs to get to my room. It looks over the whole apartment. It has a very good view of the kitchen. We both sit down on my bed and we start a conversation.
"So why did you call me over?" He says.
"I couldn't stand being alone for so long. It's just something I'm going to need to get used to, but I don't ever think I will get used to it." I reply.
"Well if you ever need someone to talk to, I'm here for you. I'm always here, you know that, right?"
"Yes. I do now." I chuckle.
"How are you coping with your new life?"
"It's difficult, but I think I'll get used to it just fine, as long as I can continue to hang out with you guys."
"Yeah. I get that. Well luckily for you, we will never leave you alone. If you ever need us, just give us a shout and we're halfway here already."
Tobias is the kind of person that is extremely good at comforting people. That's that whole reason I called him over. I think Carathea would have been just as good, but instead of talking, she would take me out for ice cream and make me laugh and laugh. There's something about Tobias that just makes me feel at home. I've known him for my whole life, but something about right now feels different. I say something to break the tension of us just staring at each other hoping someone will say something.
