Emmy: “So, I tried modifying the worlds based on novels, thinking that adding a twist would make them more appealing. But every time I made changes, they only became... well, catastrophic. And now, while all of that chaos unfolds, the one person whose stories the gods consistently loved” she looked pointedly at Alyssa, “ends up getting bitten by some unknown creature and is now on the verge of dying.”
Alyssa’s eyes widened. “Wait, are you saying I’m going to die?”
Emmy: Emmy threw her hands up in frustration. “Did you only hear that part?” she huffed, exasperated. “Yes, technically you’re dying, but that’s not the point! I’m offering you a chance not to die. To be part of something far bigger than any story you’ve ever created.”
Alyssa blinked, a bit taken aback but now very intrigued. “So... you’re saying I get to keep living, and I get to help you create worlds?”
Emmy nodded, her expression softening. “Exactly. But it won’t be easy. You’ll need to face challenges you’ve only ever written about. Are you up for it?”
Alyssa took a deep breath, her pulse racing with a mix of fear and excitement.
Alyssa: "Can you elaborate a little more on what I’m supposed to do? And... how exactly is this going to heal me?”
Emmy gave me a reassuring smile. “You’ll be sent to different worlds, and your task will be to make changes, improvements, really. For the rest, whenever you arrive in a new world, the WINDOW will explain everything you need to know.”
My mind screeched to a halt. “Wait, WINDOW? What’s that supposed to mean?”
Emmy waved her hand dismissively. “You’ll understand when you get there.”
“But... why do I have to go to these worlds? Can’t I just tell you what to change from here?”
Emmy sighed as if explaining something to a stubborn child. “You see, gods can’t just grant life to mortals whenever we feel like it. The mortal has to be worth it. And, in your case, it’s even more complex. Healing you involves bending the very laws of life and death.” She tilted her head, a glint of curiosity in her eyes. “Besides, I think you’ll be... entertaining to watch.”
She paused, waiting. “So, do you agree?”
Alyssa didn’t even hesitate. “Yes.” I mean, who would pass up a chance to stay alive? she thought to herself.
Emmy: “Perfect! Now, no more talking. I’m sending you to your first world. Oh, and by the way, you won’t need to worry about things like money or appearance in any of these worlds.”
Before I could protest, everything blurred. When my vision cleared, I was in an incredibly fancy room, complete with chandeliers, velvet drapes, and luxurious decor that looked straight out of a historical drama.
I took a deep breath, trying to steady my racing heart. “Well,” I muttered to myself, “guess it’s time to see what this WINDOW has to say.”
