P.S. Before I start I just want to say I have never written a NCIS fic before and I'm trying my best for it to be accurate. But please don't hate me if it isn't. An avid fan, I'm trying to do the characters justice as best as I can.

Anyways, Enjoy!

Ellie.

If I had thought my first undercover assignment was seating on a rather uncomfortable bar stool waiting for someone who may or may not show, I probably would have declined. A normal person would have said "The heck with it" and walked out.

But I wasn't a normal person. I was everything but. A former NSA agent that annulated data in her quiet corner listening to country music, I wasn't that shy, nerdy girl anymore. About 6 months ago I had transferred over to NCIS: Navel Criminal Investigation Service. And to say it was different from my original job would be understatement.

Long hour shifts, sometimes late into the night. Lots of paperwork. Investigating crime scenes; at undesirable hours and places. And not to forget the bodies. I had stopped counting after about the first month. It shouldn't have bothered me as much, more knowing what I was getting myself into. But the feeling of disgust with people who would do such a thing hasn't left me. It never has.

So, I was either at my desk waiting for Gibbs to come in the bull pen saying "We got a body" or I was investigating who killed said body. And as fast as I could. Even though it was different bodies, different circumstances, I was beginning to get tired of doing the same. I need something new. Something that didn't require digging through trash looking for clues or sitting at my desk for hours on end looking for any clue to help us.

There was 3 of us in this small team. Myself, Gibbs, and Mcgee.

Mcgee was a quiet, soft spoken computer nerd.  Even at 5 ft 7 I still felt small standing next to his 6 ft 1 frame. We bonded immediately, sharing a special bond.

The there was Gibbs. A retired marine snipper, he was man of few words but there was no denying he cared deeply for his team. As small as it was.

"Bishop, with me." My head perked up. Gibbs came into the room in a rush like he always did.

"Okay. Where are we going?"

No answer. Just a nod.

We ended up behind the main staircase behind the bull pen.

"I've got a case for you."

"Sir?"

"Did you not hear me? We have a case." Gibbs was nothing if not on point.

"Yes, I understand that. But why not discuss with the rest of the team. And don't you usually come in saying like "We've got a dead body".

Gibbs a tight lip smile. "Bishop, not every case is going to have dead bodies. You're getting restless, and this one is just for you. It's an undercover mission."

My ears perked right up. This was something very different from what I have done. "I'm all ears."

He handed me a folder. "Petty officer Johnathan Willams. We have reason to believe he is part of an illegal smuggling gang."

"And you want me to do what?"

"Investigate. We have no idea if he is being held against his will or if he is part of the gang. Sources think he could be the boss. You need to find that out."

" How? Can't we just bring him in for questioning?"

He gave me a look making me regret the question. "I told Vance you were ready for this. Don't make me regret it."

My cheeks flushed with anger and embarrassment. "I won't sir. I promise."

So that's how I found myself in a foul-smelling bar on the outskirts of DC. I was instantly wishing I had changed into less noticeable clothes. It wasn't anything over the top. Just a pair of nice jeans and white button down shirt. But seating with all these rough necks it felt as out of place as a fish out of water.

The folder Gibbs had given me informed me that Petty officer Williams was last seen here. How I was going to approach him I still wasn't sure. Pretty dumb, but I was working on it.

"Don't look so glum. It's not as bad as it looks." A voice to my right startled me.

I turned to find a man of about my age taking a seat next to me. He was short, about 5 ft 8. Dressed in a well-worn jeans paired with a tight-fitting shirt and leather jacket, he looked as in place as I did out. Olive skin and a Latina accent gave away his Spanish descent. The first thing that I noticed though was his eyes: Coal black. Matching the color of his hair.

"Excuse me?"

"Your beer. You've been looking at the contents with disgust for the past minute. I've had it, it's not that bad."

"Thanks?"

He smirked. "So, what's a pretty girl like you doing in a disgusting joint like this?"

My instincts kicked in. Was this one of the gangs' henchmen trying to scare me off? He sure looked like he could be.

He seemed to realize my discomfort. "Relax. I'm not trying to scare you. Just making conversation. You looked lonely."

"Well, I'm not. Waiting for a friend. Satisfied?"

"Whatever you say amigo." He smirked again before taking a drink of his own beer. I took a swig of my own. I tried to keep a cool face. It sure wasn't the best I have had. I guess there was a thing of cheap beer.

"You getting stood up?"

Wow, this guy. He was being really annoying. "You are doing a very bad job of minding your own business Black eyes."

Amusement played on his features. "Sassy. Though Black Eyes? Really?"

"Really. Till you leave me alone that's what I'm calling you."

"Fair enough."

Just then Petty Officer Williams came through the door. He looked just like the picture in the folder. Tall, with brown hair and blue eyes. He had a kind face, one that shouldn't be part of gang. I hoped for his sake it was all a mistake.

Black eyes, as I was going to call him, gave me a look. "Good luck Blonde."
