-Someone to Stay-
Kat's dream had always been to become a police officer. Ever since she was a little it's all she ever wanted. Even when she had to go against her parents to do it, even when she had to work twice as hard as everyone else to be taken seriously at the academy, and even when she was told that she would never be taken seriously as a police officer. Despite these things trying to get in Kat's way, they only made her work harder. They made her more determined to be great.
Kat sat awkwardly in the car not knowing who was supposed to talk first. She looked to the driver, her training office. Sergeant Athena Grant was quiet as they drove through the streets of LA. Sergeant Grant wasn't supposed to be training Kat, instead it was supposed to be some old guy who Kat knew would give her a hard time about everything. Athena went up to the captain saying that she wanted to take over Kat's training which received no complaints from either party.
"I just wanted to say how grateful I am to have you as my training officer." Kat blurted out.
Athena didn't even look at her as she replied, "I'm not a training officer. I will do my best to teach you, but you should know that I haven't been a T.O. for many years."
Kat nodded, "Yeah, I know. I mean you're kind of a huge inspiration to me." Kat could feel her cheeks turning red wishing she would stop talking.
Surprisingly, Athena smiled. She was about to reply when there was a call on the radio sending them to an apartment complex a few minutes away. "Okay, you do exactly what I tell you to do, nothing more, nothing less. Got it?" Kat nodded.
She could feel her heart beginning to race. She didn't know if it was because of the thrill, the rush of adrenaline, or maybe her nerves were finally getting the best of her. "Uh, what if--" she started but was cut short.
"Lets go." Athena said already exiting the car. Kat took a deep breath and quickly followed after her.
"Fire and Rescue were first to arrive." They were informed by another officer. "Theory is that some kid gave birth on a toilet and tried to flush the evidence, which got stuck in a pipe."
Kat shook her head feeling a pit begin to form in her stomach. "Theory?" Athena asked. "Has anyone located the mother to see if the theory's correct?" The other cop shook his head. "How many floors above where you were hearing the crying?"
