As Yoko walked into the house she called out to her mom. "Mom, I'm home."
"Honey, I'm in the kitchen, come here." Her mom responded from the kitchen.
Yoko put her bag on the living room couch and took her phone wanting to text Faye.
She typed while making her way to the kitchen.
-Text me when you're free"You came home faster than usual today." Yoko's mom said eyeing her as she saw her typing on the phone.
"Yes, what are you cooking?" Yoko said smiling as she put down her phone on the counter.
"Just boiling some water for pasta, how about you make it in your way? It's tastier when you make it." Mrs. Lertprasert said chuckling.
"Yeah, sure. Let me wash my hands first." Yoko cheerfully uttered clapping her hands, while making her way to the sink. Her mom just watched her leaning on the kitchen counter.
"You are unusually cheerful today..." Her mom trailed off.
"Am I?" Yoko asked giggling.
"Yeah, who's the girl that dropped you here in the motorcycle? Not to mention that this is the first time I have seen you getting on something two wheeled after you fell off of your bicycle." Yoko's mom laughed as she remembered the old times.
"Mom, I was only 6 back then, it's been years now. I can get on a bike!" Yoko said defensively as she made her way to the fridge to get some veggies. "It just depends on who's driving.." She murmured under her breath.
"Right, I heard that, so who's the girl?" She asked as Yoko came back to the counter.
Yoko giggled before replying, "It's Faye."
"Ah.. that's why you are so happy, did she tell you why she didn't see you all this time?" Yoko's mom asked rising her eyebrows.
"She did, apparently she has been following and avoiding me at the same time," she chuckled while cutting the vegetables. "Avoiding 'cause she doesn't wants to make it hard for me to be in campus, because if people saw her with me they just... won't stop talking about us but I assured her that everything is fine,"
"What really are they talking about, Yoko?"
"I don't know, they're just talking among themselves and there's nothing you need to worry about mom, I'll tell you if there is..." Yoko trailed off, meeting her mom's gaze she continued,
"If you are worried about Faye being a bad person or something, then you know I won't just go for anyone. Yes, I like her and I don't care what people might be talking about her but I will make sure to see things for myself." Yoko ended with a smile.
Mrs. Lertprasert returned the smile and cradled her head with one hand before speaking, "I know you will... just be careful."
"I will be."
With that, they started preparing dinner side by side, chatting here and there about Yoko's university and the friends she made their.
As they were finishing off, Yoko's mother remembered something, "Hey, you didn't tell me why she was following you... It's creepy you know." she said scrunching her face.
Yoko laughed and said, "I never saw her following me, I got suspicious today when she said she was watching me talk to her friends. I asked her to be honest and she confessed, though I don't believe her reason I don't wanna assume anything." she paused as she got a notification in her phone. She took her phone to see who it is and smiled when she saw it's from Faye.
