CHAPTER EIGHT!
"Just keep her name out ya mouth."
As you walked through the crowded hallway, the murmurs and sideways glances seemed to close in on you. You wanted to shrink away, make yourself invisible, but the whispers grew louder with every step. A knot of dread tightened in your chest, and you pushed through the hallway, desperate to find a bathroom, somewhere you could escape, even if only for a moment.Swinging the bathroom door open, you immediately froze, your heart sinking as you saw Sasha and two other familiar faces. They turned to look at you with soft, sympathetic expressions, their silence making the pit in your stomach deepen.
"Alright," you said, your voice wavering but firm. "I really need somebody to tell me what the fuck is going on."Sasha glanced down, sighing, and it was as if the air between you grew heavier. But before she could say anything, Annie, standing off to the side, interrupted.
"If we'd known you were messing around with Malik, we would've warned you," she said, her voice a mix of hesitation and pity.
You clenched your jaw, feeling heat rush to your face. "I'm not 'messing around with Malik,' though," you managed, your tone sharper than you intended. A small part of you hoped Annie was just making things up, but her gaze didn't waver.
"Well, he's going around telling everyone..." She paused, looking at you like she was deciding how much to say. She stepped closer, her voice lowering. "He's saying you gave the worst head he's ever had."
Your heart dropped, and for a second, it felt like all the blood drained from your body. You were frozen, a numbness creeping up as the reality of what was being said about you sank in. The laughter, the stares—they all made sense now. Each whisper you'd heard in the hallway felt like it was aimed at your heart, and now you knew it was. The other side of the bathroom door seemed like the edge of a cliff, and you dreaded ever having to face it again.
Sasha quickly moved forward, pulling you into a hug. "Y/N, I'm so sorry," she murmured, her voice full of compassion. "He's a jerk. He's lucky you even gave him the time of day."
